Weekly Reading Round-Up
Happy Friday, all! After a bitter cold week in New York, the sun has finally come back out… and let’s hope it stays that way!
I started several books this week. But it was one of those Goldilocks’s porridge reading weeks where nothing was quite right, so I reverted to Charlotte MacLeod with the next two books in her Grub & Stakers series, The Grub & Stakers Quilt a Bee and The Grub & Stakers Pinch a Poke. For anyone else who loved her Sarah Kelling and Janet Rhys books, these are very much in the same vein.
Help! What should I read next? I’m yearning for something in the snarky YA vein like Maureen Johnson’s Truly Devious or Lockwood & Co— or a really riveting thriller that doesn’t have deep undertones of misogyny. I’ve been poking around trying to find something that fits either of those bills and drawing a blank.
What have you been reading this week?
I loved Piranesi—I went in unsure of what to expect, which was perfect. It was beautiful and compelling and unexpected; thrilling, though not a thriller per se.
Speaking of Truly Devious, my library copy FINALLY came in. So that’s my weekend sorted!
Have you tried the Enola Homes series?
Oh, second this, I love it and there’s 7 books and one short story with another book coming soon!
I liked “One of us is lying series”!
Anyone know of a great historical fiction novel about the Romanov’s? I finished “I was Anastasia” by Ariel Lawhon and it was FANTASTIC and now am on a Romanov binge
Loved City of Shadows by Ariana Franklin, if you haven’t read it yet. Historical fiction+ mystery+suspense.
