Weekly Reading Round-Up

Happy Friday, all!  It’s been the strangest week in New York, zigzagging between summer and winter (with the occasional nod to spring).  Just when you put the winter coat away….

In the meantime, I finally read Tana French’s latest, The Searcher, a stand alone about a Chicago cop who moves to rural Ireland and finds himself embroiled in the disappearance of a teenage boy amid all sorts of local intrigues he doesn’t understand.

I really hadn’t intended a theme, but I went from Ireland to… Ireland, with the third book in the Pink Carnation series, The Deception of the Emerald Ring, which I’m re-reading for next week’s Pink Carnation Read Along meeting with special guest co-host Eloisa James.  Just for fun, I decided to read the UK edition, so I will be spelling realise with an “s” for the foreseeable future.

What have you been reading this week?

I just finished the latest Maisie Dobbs, The Consequences of Fear. I was just marveling over her journey from the very first book. I read the available chapters of Eloisa James’s novella, Lady Be Wilde. Oh, those Wilde men! I also started rereading The Deception of the Emerald Ring, for the readalong next week. Recent reads include Castle Shade by Laurie R King and Outrageous by Minerva Spencer.

Ooohhhh, The Searcher is another book on my TBR pile! I’m at the end of the Grishaverse and Leigh Bardugo’s wonderful series. Should finish Rule of Wolves this weekend and then pick up The Deception of the Emerald Ring for Wednesday’s Zoom fun!
