Weekly Reading Round-Up
Happy Friday– and happy almost Valentine’s Day!
Do you ever have those weeks where you can’t remember for the life of you what you were reading at the beginning of it? That’s me right now. But I can tell you that I rediscovered Agatha Christie’s Tommy and Tuppence. I’d forgotten just what fun they were and how much I particularly adore Tuppence.
I’ve also been re-reading my own The Secret History of the Pink Carnation for the Pink Carnation Read Along— for the first time since the final edits went in back in 2004! I have thoughts. Many thoughts. (And if you want to join the Read Along, there’s still time! In fact, you can hop in any month you like, depending on which book you particularly feel like discussing.)
What have you been reading this week?
Still continuing with the Rockliffe series by Stella Riley, finished #4 The Wicked Cousin (great!) and #5 Hazard (even better!) and reading the final #6 Cadenza (good so far!). Very Valentine’s Day-y 🙂
I’ve been reading a book for book club that is about a Christian Missionary to aliens… I’m not sure if it’s serious or satire, it’s written by Michel Faber, famous for ‘The Crimson Petal and the White’ and I’m just barely slogging through it… especially with how he treats some of his female characters… so I think for this weekend I’m jumping on the Pink Carnation re-read bandwagon! I was going to finish stupid alien book first, but I seriously don’t think I can handle it much longer… I need Richard and Amy!
Starting my favorite romance novel of all time – The Far Pavilions by MM Kaye!
Lauren, what are some of your favorite romances that you read again and again?
I’m finishing up The Grim Reader which is the latest Bibliophile mystery. I love this series and have read all of them. Next up is A Curious Incident by Vicky Delany from another series that I love (Sherlock Holmes Bookshop).
I Love M. M. Kaye! One of my favorite romances is Trade Wind which I think she wrote before The Far Pavilions.
Starting All the Ways We Said Goodbye.
