The 2018 Pinkorama Round-Up
So many thanks to all of this year’s Pinkorama participants!
Last year’s Pinkoramae set a high bar, but these have exceeded all expectations. We have Gilded Age peeps and Regency peeps and peep videos and a killer Jacobite cat. Who could ask for anything more?
It’s impossible to choose just one favorite out of so much gorgeousness. But that’s your job! Pick your favorite Pinkorama from the round-up below and post it in the Comments– and I’ll choose one judge at random to receive a signed, hardcover copy of The Other Daughter!
Voting closes next Saturday (4/21). Winners will be announced on Sunday.
In the order in which I received them, I give you… the 2018 Pinkoramae!
1) “The Peep of Belliston Hall” or “Those Aren’t Daisies”, by Carrie and Laura (from The Mark of the Midnight Manzanilla).
In the middle of a ball in Richmond, a woman is found murdered with fang marks on her neck. Is the reclusive Peep of Belliston Hall truly a vampire? Sally Fitzhugh thinks not….

2) “The Secret History of the Peep Carnation”, by Carla and Rowan (from The Secret History of the Pink Carnation).
It’s 1803 and Miss Gwendolyn Meadows seizes the chance to pack her bags for Paris as chaperone for Miss Jane Wooliston and Miss Amy Balcourt. Napoleon will never know what hit him….

3) “The English Peep”, by Kayse (from The English Wife).
In the wintery gardens of Illyria, during the Van Duyvils’ Twelfth Night masquerade ball, Bayard Van Duyvil is found murdered, his English wife missing. Who dunnit?
Click here for a full description and more pictures of the scene.
4) “Can the World Buy Such a Peep?”, by Freya (from The Seduction of the Crimson Rose).
When Miss Mary Alsworthy calls upon Lord Vaughn, her host brings her to his windowless Chinese chamber. Is that flush on his cheeks claret, or us he just happy to see her?
Click here for a full description and more pictures of the scene.
5) “An American Peep Takes on the World News”, by Colleen and Pam (from The English Wife).
Janie Van Duyvil defies propriety to seek out a reporter from the notorious World News in the hopes of tracking down the truth about her brother’s murder. But can she really trust reporter James Burke? Or does he have an agenda of his own?
Click here for a full description and more pictures of the scene.
6) “The Deception of the Emerald Peep”, by Rachel (from The Deception of the Emerald Ring).
Hijinks and hilarity ensue when Geoffrey Pinchingdale-Snipe’s unwanted wife stumbles unwittingly into a mission of the League of the Pink Carnation in Dublin in 1803. False identities pile upon false identities while Miss Gwen collects excellent material for her novel-in-progress.

7) “The Peepinese Chamber”, by Candace and Cassandra (from The Seduction of the Crimson Rose).
In Lord Vaughn’s Chinese chamber, Lord Vaughn and Miss Mary Alsworthy exchange triple entendres, Shakespeare quotes, and just possibly a clandestine kiss. (When Lord Vaughn quoted Milton’s Comus— “What hath night to do with sleep/Night hath better sweets to prove”– he had no idea just how sweet!)

And that concludes our tour de 2018 Pinkorama, in which each and every one is a tour de peep! May I have a huge round of applause for all the artistes? Take a bow, pat yourself on the back, and relax with a peep while we all admire your work.
Between the incredible wallpaper and the guest appearance by Cyril Bassington-Bassington, there is really only one choice here, #4, “Can the World Buy Such a Peep?”
It was an extraordinary year, but this one may be my favorite ever!
I have to go with The English Peep, because I loved The English Wife so much!
I love them all, but I am voting for #5! The wallpaper in #4 is fantastic, but I can’t get over the statue in #5.
I love #3 because the costumes are brilliant and I love The English Wife, but my vote has to go to #7. That is one elaborate Peeporama!
I have to vote for #3 – The English Peep! Aside from the fact that I ADORED the book, I just love the details! The costumes, dagger, and lanterns – not to mention the fabulous hair! It’s perfect!
As much as I loved #8, I think I have to go with the Nathan Hale peep statue and #5.
I vote for #1 – hands down!!
I love the costumes, details, and the entire setting of #1 “the peep of Belliston Hall!”
I think Number 1 is amazing! I love all the details of it!
I really appreciate the work and craft of #1
There were many contenders this year, but the scope of the scene of “The Peep of Belliston Hall” is the winner! The quadrille! The Vaugns! The scene of a crime!
#3… great job, Kayse! Love that you did the most recent book 🙂
[Also, I know this is nit-picky, but Kayse did 3 and I did 6 by myself, although if she’d helped me I’m sure it would have turned out better LOL!]
Ack! I’m so sorry, Rachel– blame the cold meds! I’ve fixed it now.
#3, those costumes! I was HOPING someone would do this scene SO MUCH!
These are so amazing! I vote for #7.
I have to go with #1the work and detail that went into it is outstanding…love it…all were terrific
Pink #4 – mainly for the alternate ending with the gorgeous cat!
I vote for #5
All if these are amazing!!! Great details and colors on all peeps. I will be voting for “An American Peep Takes on the World News”, by Colleen and Pam
I vote for #1 because of the detail and extended scene with so many characters.
But I also loved #3 and #7 – great job everyone!
I’m voting for #5!!
Number 5 all the way!
# 7 “The Peepinese Chamber”
Almost everything looks edible, the details are exquisite from the hanging pictures to the food, the pieces all fit together perfectly, and I think the way the floor is designed really conveys the topsy turvey feeling of being trapped in a seemingly doorless room.
I agree wholeheartedly about the wonderful detail and artistry of #1 and #5. But I’m voting for #2 because of its emotional truth. That claustrophobic domestic scene has been haunting me in the wee hours. I love the way Miss Gwen is staring straight out of it at us, her face a picture of stoic refusal to give way to existential despair. Yet under that mocking carapace we glimpse her true vulnerability, and her yearning to turn that parasol around and go blow something up.

#3! Love the detail! They’re all so good as usual though ?
#1! Great costumes and one of my favorite of the series 🙂 So creative!!!
I have to pick number 1 ! They all were wonderful though. I just thought the details and costumes were spot on on peep 1
I have to vote for #1. The detail and storytelling are exceptional.
I love them all but I will vote for 6) “The Deception of the Emerald Peep”, by Kayse.
#4. One of my favorite scenes in the series, plus they did their research and learned what chinoiserie should look like. I did like that #7 used all edible elements, especially the coke bottle gummie as a wine bottle, and the tootsie roll fireplace logs.
