Monday Give Away: TINY LITTLE THING

My friend Beatriz Williams’s new book, Tiny Little Thing, comes out tomorrow! And it’s wonderful.

Since it would be selfish of me not to share the joy, one person who comments on this post today will receive an ARC of Tiny Little Thing.

Here’s the official blurb:

tiny little thingIn the summer of 1966, Christina Hardcastle—“Tiny” to her illustrious family—stands on the brink of a breathtaking future. Of the three Schuyler sisters, she’s the one raised to marry a man destined for leadership, and with her elegance and impeccable style, she presents a perfect camera-ready image in the dawning age of television politics. Together she and her husband, Frank, make the ultimate power couple: intelligent, rich, and impossibly attractive. It seems nothing can stop Frank from rising to national office, and he’s got his sights set on a senate seat in November.

But as the season gets underway at the family estate on Cape Cod, three unwelcome visitors appear in Tiny’s perfect life: her volatile sister Pepper, an envelope containing incriminating photograph, and the intimidating figure of Frank’s cousin Vietnam-war hero Caspian, who knows more about Tiny’s rich inner life than anyone else. As she struggles to maintain the glossy façade on which the Hardcastle family’s ambitions are built, Tiny begins to suspect that Frank is hiding a reckless entanglement of his own…one that may unravel both her own ordered life and her husband’s promising career.

One of the joys of the book is watching the interaction between Tiny, the well-behaved sister, and Pepper, the wild child, as they learn to understand each other better. So, for a copy of Tiny Little Thing, here’s your question:

— Are you more Tiny or Pepper?

One person will be chosen at random to receive an ARC of Tiny Little Thing. The winner will be announced tomorrow– the same day Tiny Little Thing appears in stores!

If you’d like your copy signed, you can find me and Beatriz in Colorado Springs this Friday at the Briargate B&N and on Saturday in Denver at the Historical Novel Society Book Fair.

I am certainly not volatile, so I guess I am Tiny, although not as put together as she is.

Would love this, her books get better and better.

  2. Lauren H. on June 22, 2015 at 12:51 pm

A little bit of both, though each of my two sisters are both more Tiny and more Pepper than me.

This book sounds really good! I haven’t read any Beatriz Williams yet. The Forgotten Room will likely be my first.

  3. Catie on June 22, 2015 at 12:56 pm

I don’t know if I’m “perfectly camera ready” but I also am not easily described as a wild child!

  4. Paula Scott on June 22, 2015 at 12:58 pm

Would love to win this book. I am probably more Tiny than Pepper, as I am and always have been a “rule follower.” I also never win anything…door prizes, books, the lottery, etc. 🙂 I loved her last book and look forward to The Forgotton Room.

  5. Dara on June 22, 2015 at 1:01 pm

I wouldn’t really say I am either, but I guess more Tiny that Pepper.

I loved The Secret Life of Violet Grant (And A Hundred Summers) so I can’t wait to read more about this family!

  6. Liz D. on June 22, 2015 at 1:05 pm

Tiny! I’m definitely the more cautious rule-follower (I think it comes from being the eldest) while my younger sister is more of a spitfire!

  7. Renee on June 22, 2015 at 1:10 pm

I’m totally Tiny! And any time I did try to bend the rules at all, I could never get away with it 🙂 Oldest child syndrome!

  8. Michelle Springer on June 22, 2015 at 1:10 pm

I used to be Tiny, wanting to make sure that everything was right and everyone was happy. That nearly killed me. Now, I strive for a happy medium- trying to be a little wilder while not going to jail. 😉

  9. Stephanie on June 22, 2015 at 1:12 pm

I’m Tiny. I teach high school, and my students don’t understand it isn’t that I’m refusing to share my “wild” past stories with them. I actually have zero to share.

  10. Ashley Peter on June 22, 2015 at 1:19 pm

I’m like Tiny in that I follow the rules. I’m like Pepper in that I’m the one making up the rules. 😛

  11. Sara B on June 22, 2015 at 1:21 pm

Um whats the third sister like? I’m more the rule-following, so i guess I’m closer to Tiny.

  12. Nina on June 22, 2015 at 1:36 pm

    Tiny

  13. Pat Dupuy on June 22, 2015 at 1:36 pm

Oh dear. I’m probably more like Tiny. How boring!
But I do have some Pepper thrown in, but not nearly enough. I look forward to reading this story. I certainly remember what the 60s were like.

  14. Eirene on June 22, 2015 at 1:37 pm

I guess I’m pretty much Tiny, but I have great admiration for people like Pepper. My mind just doesn’t work that way, so I find them fascinating. 🙂

  15. Amanda on June 22, 2015 at 1:53 pm

I think more Tiny. Thanks for the chance!

  16. Whitney on June 22, 2015 at 1:57 pm

Definitely Tiny…and my sister would be Pepper. Thanks!

I don’t think I am either but will pick up your book and hers when I am at Barnes and Noble. Will be in N.Y City next week will you be book signing anywhere?

    • Lauren on June 29, 2015 at 11:08 am

Hi, Diane! I don’t have any official events this week, but if you’re in town and would like your book(s) signed, I’m happy to find a time to meet with you!

  18. Jenny on June 22, 2015 at 3:08 pm

    Tiny (most of the time).

    Tiny

  20. Sylvia Buonanni on June 22, 2015 at 3:53 pm

    Pepper, without a doubt.

  21. Jane Price on June 22, 2015 at 3:55 pm

I would say I am more like Tiny, however my family would say Pepper!

  22. Lisa on June 22, 2015 at 4:20 pm

Tiny, I’m too introverted to be a wild child.

  23. Judy on June 22, 2015 at 4:44 pm

Probably more like Tiny but wish to be more like Pepper 🙂

  24. Annette Johnson on June 22, 2015 at 5:09 pm

    Tiny

  25. Alexandra on June 22, 2015 at 5:19 pm

Tiny, aspiring to be more like Pepper. 🙂

  26. Emily on June 22, 2015 at 5:28 pm

    Pepper!!

  27. Sherri on June 22, 2015 at 7:07 pm

I’m probably more like Tiny. I’m really enjoying The Secret Life of Violet Grant. I love Vivian’s voice.

  28. Ardis on June 22, 2015 at 7:51 pm

I am more Pepper than Tiny. My sister,Betty, set the standard for doing everything perfectly with elegance and grace I might add! Love the family name. My best friend for 18 years, a beautiful and intelligent German Shepherd, was named Schuyler and came from Schuyler,Virginia. Would love the opportunity to win this book,!

    • Betty S. on June 23, 2015 at 11:15 am

You go girl! Hope you win!

  29. Claire on June 22, 2015 at 8:20 pm

More Tiny than Pepper, I suspect, but really more somewhere in the middle!

  30. Debbie Mitchell on June 22, 2015 at 9:12 pm

I would say I am more Tiny than Pepper.

  31. Claire on June 22, 2015 at 9:40 pm

I’m the Tiny in my family. But my husband might say I have more than a bit of Pepper.

  32. Rachel Adrianna on June 22, 2015 at 10:10 pm

    I’m definitely more of a Pepper 🙂

  33. Emily on June 23, 2015 at 1:00 am

I think I try to be a Tiny but then end up as a Pepper.

  34. Paige B. on June 23, 2015 at 2:01 am

Tiny, with a rich inner life. Maybe.

  35. Sarah R on June 23, 2015 at 3:33 am

Tiny! I was always the well-behaved one!

  36. Jane on June 23, 2015 at 10:28 am

Tiny – rule follower for sure. Would love to win the ARC.

  37. Susan I on June 23, 2015 at 10:36 am

Absolutely Pepper! And I just realized this is the same family from The Secret Life of Violet Grant. A little slow…

  38. Rosemary on June 23, 2015 at 11:00 am

I’m the third sister who keeps them from tearing each other’s hair out. I’ve got equal parts of both – adventurous but also rule-following 🙂

  39. Betty S. on June 23, 2015 at 11:17 am

As my sister already replied above, I am more Tiny. I don’t consider myself volatile, although under the right circumstances, maybe. Oldest child syndrome fits me to a tee. Sounds like an interesting book!

  40. Deanndra on June 23, 2015 at 12:16 pm

A little bit of both, but more Pepper for sure! Can’t wait to read this book 🙂
