Weekly Reading Round-Up

I’ve been in Pink XII lockdown, so there hasn’t been much in the way of leisure reading. But I want to know what you’ve been reading!

What have you been reading this week?

p.s. Apologies for not having announced a Donkey Poll winner yet! I’ll pick– and announce– a winner on Sunday.

I’m still working my way through the fake-Anastasia book, but I also indulged in some Stacey Ballis comfort reading: Room for Improvement, Inappropriate Men and now Sleeping Over.

Megan Bryce – To Wed the Widow. I read it when it first came out, and I’m back enjoying the perfect mix of wit, love and a pocket Pomeranian. One of my 5-star books of 2014 and a DIK. (Her other books are terrific too.) https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23593880-to-wed-the-widow?from_search=true

I’ve actually never read Mansfield Park so I’m getting to know Fanny Price this week!

I read A Notorious Countess Confesses.

I read Little Face (Sophie Hannah), the first in her series about the CID in the (fictional I presume) town of Spilling in the UK. When new mother Alice Fancourt comes home after her first outing away from her baby and claims that the infant in the crib isn’t hers, no one believes her. Then, two weeks later, she and the baby have both vanished. Sort of a psychological mystery/thriller. I read it based on comparisons with Tana French (who also wrote a blurb for the cover). I enjoyed it, although it wasn’t entirely satisfying, and I’ll give another of her books a go.

And now back to dissertation lockdown…

I finished re-read The Deception of the Emerald Ring (yeah, I’m a few months back on this re-read :P) Then I dove into Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, which is just as amazing and awesome as I remember it from when I first read it ten years ago.

  9. Pat Dupuy on February 13, 2015 at 9:58 pm

I read MacDeath by Cindy Brown. It was a lot of fun. And just now finished What’s a Witch to Do? by Jennifer Harlow. Another light enjoyable read. Both of these are mysteries and I will look for more from these authors.

  10. Pam on February 14, 2015 at 3:19 am

Lauren Willig’s The Mark of the Midnight Manzanilla

  11. Sarah R on February 14, 2015 at 11:35 am

I am reading The Vanishing by Wendy Webb. Love her ghost stories!

  12. Sue Gorman on February 14, 2015 at 7:10 pm

    Re reading Night Jasmine.
Finished Guilded Cuff by Lauren Smith & Beckaman by Grace Burrowes

Great reading week for me! Jayne Ann Krentz’s newest Trust No One, Sarah Addison Allen’s First Frost and the latest Flavia de Luce. All were fantastic! I was sad to finish them all. I love when you have a multiple book winning streak!

  14. Bev Fontaine on February 17, 2015 at 6:01 pm

I have discovered Katharine Ashe! I am loving her books: The Falcon Club series and others set during Napoleonic and post-Napoleonic England. She has a way with a hero and her dialogue is first-rate.
