If You Like….

To make up for not doing an If You Like yesterday, I am shamelessly piggybacking off Shelf Awareness, which just posted a list of novels in which Napoleon makes a cameo appearance– including our own The Garden Intrigue.

For today’s Shelf Awareness recommendations, click here. For a much longer list of Napoleonic-set novels (including Pink Carnation!), try here.

I’ve read, of course, ALL of your Pink Carnation series (bravo)

I’ve read Georgette Heyer’s An Infamous Army. It is considered by some as the most historically accurate depiction of the battle of Waterloo within a work of fiction. I found it a much more serious and somber work than her other more light-hearted romances. It is fitting considering the horrifying casulties (estimated at 50,000) both in men and livestock from that battle.

Another excellent romance I reviewed was Jack Caldwell’s Three Colonels which also has an excellent account of the battle of waterloo. I hope you don’t mind me plugging a contemporary author’s work because I think it is a GREAT Jane Austen mash-up.

Jessica, I would “like” that if there were a like function on this! Thank you.
