"Tempting" Give Away

If I’m being accurate, it’s really a “Too Tempting” give away– as in Cara Elliott’s upcoming novel, Too Tempting to Resist, the latest in her Lords of Midnight series.

Determined to stop her wayward brother from squandering their dwindling fortune, Lady Eliza Brentford decides to follow him to his favorite den of depravity. There, among the candlelight and raucous revelry, she encounters her brother’s role model in debauchery, the notorious Marquess of Haddan, Gryffin Dwight. Staring into his smoldering green eyes, Eliza can’t help but find the rakehell nobleman seductively charming—and sinfully attractive.

When Gryffin appears on Eliza’s estate as a guest of her brother, a stolen kiss among the garden’s blooms leads to a night of unbridled passion. Suddenly the lovely widow feels herself opening up, like the petals of a rose. Could this master of seduction possibly feel true emotion for Eliza? Or is he leading her down the garden path to an Eden of delights no woman can resist—and a fall no woman can escape?

You can read an excerpt here.

Cara has very generously offered an advance copy to one lucky reader. So here’s your question:

What do you find too tempting to resist?

For me, it would have to be coffee. Or maybe book-buying. Coffee AND book-buying– now there’s a deadly combo for me. (Oh, B&N, why did you start putting Starbucks in your stores?)

But I digress. One person who comments will be chosen at random to win a copy of Too Tempting to Resist. The winner will be announced tomorrow.

Once I get back from my little excursion to B&N and their excellent coffee-purveying facilities….

What I find too tempting to resist…

Your books, first. Anything written by you.
Then, any good romance. I cannot resist the “butterflies in the stomach” feeling and good romances give it to me…
I cannot resist a Jane Austen retelling, sequel, prequel, etc.
I cannot resist Starbucks’ Chaï Latte…
I cannot resist cakes and biscuits, white chocolate, almonds. All together, you have me! 🙂
There are so many things I cannot resist! Those are really the most important addictions! 🙂

Homemade cookies, especially chocolate chip. Tasty store bought cookies are equally dangerous.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but love Mocha Frappe or caramel ones too! YUM! I have a really hard time resisting many things that are very tempting. I have an addiction to Sour Skittles and cannot help but picking up a bag of them when I am in the store. Beautiful book covers are also very tempting, ‘Oooh that’s pretty’ and in to the basket it goes.

Oh what temptation to answer this – I may never stop once I start!

    Too Tempting:
    – Chocolate
    – Downton Abbey reruns
    – Sour Patch Kids

    Too-Too Tempting
    – Coffee
    – Whipped Cream on Coffee
    – Bread

So Tempting it’s Impossible to Resist:
    – Iced Coffee
    – Book Buying
    – Writing
    – TRavelling

    Thanks! 🙂

Definitely can’t resist cheap kindle books. It’s only $2.99?? I must have it! And soda. I can’t resist a good vanilla coke.

Too Tempting for me would definitely have to be buying new books because I love to read new book but also old books. Another thing that is Too Tempting for me would be Starbucks hot chocolate. There is nothing better than curling up with a good book and drinking hot chocolate.

Hitting that snooze button just one more time! Can’t resist just a little more time in bed in the morning!

    1) Bringing some obnoxious poster down a couple of pegs when I think they deserve it. Yes, I can be P & P’s Mr. Bennet with the sarcasm and cutting remarks when I want to!

    2) Trying NOT to pour a second glass of a good Cabernet when I know one will do.

    3) Resisting the almost overpowering temptation to sneak ahead and peek at the conclusion of a particularly compelling romance!

4)Not brewing up a Cuban style Espresso in the afternoon or evening because it will keep me up all night.

(The rest of the list would reach the floor)

Oh dear now that is a toughy. Like many others I have a soft spot for chocolate, though my true vice is Cookie Dough Frozen Yogurt… it’s frozen yogurt so it can’t be too bad…. right??

My too tempting to resist is requesting books from the library. I buy books that I absolutely know I will love, or at least buy them for my Nook, but if I’m not sure about the book, I request it from the library. Every time a weekly reading round-up is posted, I go into frenzy mode and start requesting all the books that sound good. At the time it seems harmless, because they are free, right?! I am pretty excited about it until I actually pick them up and have a tower of books to be read on my desk with a deadline! At that point, the thing I did for fun ends up stressing me out and I swear I won’t do it again…until the next week and it is just too tempting to resist!

Yarn (I’m sure it sounds crazy to people who don’t knit), books, and guacamole.

    Things I can not resist:

    1.Anything sweet; Darn sweet tooth!

2.Books; I have at least 300 actual books in my tbr pile and maybe 150 in my e-reader. And yet I will not hesitate to buy more books in all formats, look for more books to read, and continue checking out books from the library.

3.Clothes & shoes; Now I’ve recently managed to curb myself, but I find it hard to resist a good bargain. On the plus side, I am a sale shopper, so it’s hard for me to buy anything that isn’t at least 60% off. :p

I cannot resist a good kiss. Enough said.
I cannot resist reading. There’s no movie made that compares to my imagination. Ever.

    Gumdrops
Going on the internet at work
Rosamunde Pilcher books (and of course Lauren Willig books – that goes without saying…)
    Chili in the winter
    Sleeping in on weekends

Oh…I have so many sins to confess…..

Shopping for new books on my Nook whenever I want.

Boots. It’s not an addition. It’s a necessity for survival.

My girlfriend calling with her “what are you doing?” invitation that always ends up with margaritas, o.d.ing on cheese followed by purse/shoe shopping.

    tootsie rolls

    travelling – anywhere, anyhow, anytime

getting a massage. I can’t even walk by tho $1 chair things at the mall without sitting in one.

    Chocolate cherry cordials……

Cheese dip, cheese balls, cheese almost anything…..

I love Maria’s answer: a good kiss. But there’s never too many of those…For me, pizza, books, magazines.

I have to confess, Regency romance novels are BEYOND too tempting to resist. I’ve been snarfing them down since last October and I can’t stop! I originally set a goal to read 110 books this year (thinking that two completed books+ per week might be a stretch) and I’m already at 73 books read this year!!!

(Totally, it’s Lauren’s fault. And my SIL’s – if she hadn’t tempted me with The Secret History of the Pink Carnation several years ago….LOLOLOL).

And caffeine – can’t live with out it.

    And chocolate.

And Regency romance novels, caffeine, and chocolate while having a snuggle in bed….drat it all, why am I at work???

  21. Dorene W. on April 18, 2012 at 7:39 pm

A sweet little newborn cuddling on my chest.

  22. RosieO on April 18, 2012 at 8:26 pm

Buying any new Lauren books, and re-reading the old ones. I also can’t resist new and old Cara Elliott’s books, and Stephanie Laurens too. Can’t resist historical romance with a little suspense and action.

Cadbury mini eggs! I bought two bags for Easter, neither of them made it until then!

Oh, I just love Dorene’s answer!! How sweet!

  26. Candie on April 18, 2012 at 9:55 pm

Too too many things, but procrastination is probably the temptation that I can rarely resist especially since it allows for other temptations to be endulged.

  27. Amanda V on April 18, 2012 at 10:07 pm

Bookstores are too tempting for me with Regency Romances right at the top. I go in and my wallet comes out empty!

  28. Jessica C on April 18, 2012 at 11:15 pm

    1) Buying books. I can’t remember the last time I walked past a bookshop without going in and buying at least one book (usually two though, I have trouble narrowing it down to just one!)

    2) Cats. If I see a cat, I have to go and have a closer look. And a pat, if the cat is willing. This embarrasses my friends, but I can’t help myself.

    3) Jane Austen adaptations. Can’t get enough of them – if I hear of a new one, I have to track it down and watch it

  29. Cassandra on April 19, 2012 at 12:33 am

Ohh, my list of temptations is way too long. Since I most recently gave into this temptation with a new purchase I am going to divulge purses.

Even though it’s been 22 years since we were first drawn to one another, I cannot resist my hunky hubbies touch.
I can be reading my favorite romance novel, or watching the DVD of “Pride and Prejudice”, and all he has to do is kiss me, hug me or kiss behind my ear and I just melt.
The remote turn off, the bookmark marks my place, and I get to enact some of my favorite romance scenes with a man who could still be a model for a romance book cover! (Unfortunately, I would not be on the cover with him…a model I most definitely am NOT).
    But he doesn’t care…
because as crazy as it seems, just like I cannot resist him or his kisses, he cannot resist ordinary me!

So now that I think about it, why would I want to?
