More News

I know, it’s not a Tuesday, but I wanted to share this news as soon as I knew for sure. Many of you have been asking me what will become of the Pink series now that I’m also writing non-Pink books.

As of today, I can say that there will, in fact, be more Pink books. (Barring hurricane, flood, writer’s block, and all the usual sorts of force majeure.)

We’re still working out scheduling, so I can’t say exactly what the timeline will be, but I’ve just signed up to write two more Pink books for NAL in addition to the two non-Pink books I’m writing for St. Martin’s. It’s going to be a little tricky, but I just couldn’t leave my Pink folks mid-story. And, quite honestly, you all here were a large part of my decision to risk a tighter schedule to keep the Pink books going.

Next up in Pink land? Miss Gwen.

Lauren, as your self-proclaimed “lectrice inconditionelle,” I would read anything you wrote, of course, but I do think I speak for all of us that this is wonderful news. We know the Pink series can’t last forever (or can it?) but I don’t think any of us is ready to let it go! And we appreciate your efforts to keep it going while feeding your creativity and need to spread your wings.

But no matter what you write, rest assured I’ll be harassing bookstore employees to get a copy as soon as humanly possible.

    I agree!! 🙂

Can’t wait for all the books you’re going to write!

Ah Miss Gwen! If my failing memory serves me correctly, is there a romance planned between our Miss Gwen and Capt Alex Reid’s Papa? They say opposites attract and this one should be full of fireworks. Can this laid-back affable gentleman tame our formidible spy? You have very cleverly left enough of your colorful characters at an open end for many more Pink Carnation delights so let literary entertainment at its very best continue!

Jessica has expressed my opinion exactly!!! We’ll love all your books and I accept the news of two more Pink books with delight… and if they are to be the last, we’ll cherish them all the more!

All good things must come to an end, I just hope that end is far off in the future! Will Tommy and Kat get their book sometime soon?

Two more pink books — wonderful news! And I’m eagerly anticipating your other novels as you branch out in exciting new directions as a writer. We’re following you wherever you take us! 🙂

  8. Virginia on September 24, 2011 at 9:30 am

Congratulations Lauren! This is great news for all of us! I’m excited for you getting to try new people, places, and time in your writing. And I’m excited that we have the joy of looking forward to more Pink and new Kenya books. 🙂

  9. Pam on September 24, 2011 at 9:48 am

Oh phew! Ditto to what everyone else said: I will happily devour anything you write but I’m doubly happy that some of those things will be more Pink books! I don’t think the ton is a world I’m ready to stop living in! (Plus Eloise needs to at least get a chapter or two submitted…) Life without the Dowager Duchess of Dovedale would leave a giant palanquin-sized void. ;p

That being said, I’m glad you’re getting to branch out in new directions and I eagerly await your new novels. Whatever they are, I’m there.

I agree with everyone!!! I will read all your books but off course the more Pink books the better:-) I stay hopeful that in the end of it all Jane will get to have her own book as well:-) thank you for the great news!

  13. Rachel on September 24, 2011 at 1:51 pm

Oh thank goodness! All is right in the world (or at least in the Pink world). 🙂

Woot woot! Miss Gwen! Thank you so much for not abandoning us!

Can’t wait for the Miss Gwen story!

  16. Leslie on September 24, 2011 at 4:05 pm

    Lauren,
Four books!! It is a fabulous deal. Gwen definitely needs her own story and I can hardly stand the wait to read what happens to Jane and Eloise. I love Eloise!
I want to thank you for this wonderful website. I get so much pleasure logging on and reading all the great comments and suggestions. It’s a GREAT site! Always brightens my day.
    Cheers!

Thanks Everyone…you made all my points, more articulately than I could. I second ,third and fourth them, if possible. Having read and enjoyed 2L, I know you are capable of success in any genre. Thank you for saying we are good fans, but I think we are lucky to have you: you keep us informed, write wonderful books, and even caved to pressure to write Turnip’s book for us. And look how well that has turned out ! Thanks for everything Lauren !

  19. Ashley on September 24, 2011 at 5:57 pm

Oh thank goodness! Your books are what keeps me going so I am so happy to hear there are more Pink books on the horizon. Right now, I can’t wait for the end of the semester so I can read all the latest releases.

I also look forward to your new non-Pink releases. Congrats!

  20. AngelB on September 24, 2011 at 6:41 pm

Lauren: Congratulations on the new deal and THANK YOU for keeping Pink going as long as it has.

I give you 100% credit for my reading addiction the past few years. Starting with the Pink series, and this website providing such excellent reading ideas, Barnes & Noble won’t go broke anytime soon on account of me. 🙂 I truly enjoyed 2L…a fun read as always.

So, just for clarification…Is the 2 new Pink books Pink X (Miss Gwen) and Pink XI (possibly Kate and Tommy) or beyond that? I know that you have plans for Jane (and my guess is Moonflower will be her beau)…but Eloise’s thesis is thru 1815. 🙂

Thanks so much, Lauren, for letting us know and thinking of us! I admit I’m way behind in the series, but it’s nice to know it’s continuing.

  22. Vizelle on September 24, 2011 at 11:39 pm

Everyone has said it better than I could, but thank you for letting us know and for continuing the series!

  23. PM on September 25, 2011 at 11:43 pm

Excellent! (And excellent use of force majeure)

  24. Jessica Mac on September 26, 2011 at 3:29 pm

    Yippee!!
Of course i would read anything by you! But just love Pink so so much!

  25. Bridget Erin on September 26, 2011 at 4:43 pm

I am so glad that you will be continuing with Pink! I agree with everyone else’s sentiment, I love you as an author, so I’ll be reading whatever you write, but I do hope for a Pink conclusion if the story must end. I can’t wait for Pink to continue!

  26. Brenda on September 26, 2011 at 5:08 pm

I agree with all above. I am so glad you are spreading your author wings. Of course, the selfish part of me hopes the Pink books continues for years. Even if we get a book every two to three years. Thank you Lauren for introducing us to the Pink books.

  27. SusanN on September 26, 2011 at 5:48 pm

    Congrats on the book deal(s).

I’m glad there will be more Pink books. I think the series is still fresh and can support many more books. In addition to the Eloise/Colin storyline, there are many more Regency characters who need their day in the sun.

  28. Sharin on September 27, 2011 at 12:15 pm

    Very good news indeed!
This IS your year! Enjoy every single drop of success, you’ve earned it. With two contracts locked in, I’m sure you’ll be busy and challenged, but we will be happier than ever. Thank you for making our lives a little bit nicer with every book.
    You are a star!
    🙂
