The Law School Novel– Coming Soon!
As some of you know, around the same time I was writing The Deception of the Emerald Ring, in the winter of 2005/6, I was also writing something else, a satire set at Harvard Law, based on the plot of Measure for Measure.
I called it Two L.
Two L enjoyed a limited circulation among my friends and various HLS faculty before retiring to my Old Novels folder. I was rather proud of it (it was my attempt to play Evelyn Waugh), but it was non-Pink, so I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it.
I am thrilled to announce that Two L will be emerging from the vault for its very first public appearance at the end of this month.
Something is rotten at Harvard Law. As the frat boys take over the Law Review and the law school sorority, the Veritarts, bring hems to a new high and grades to a new low, the Dean is very strangely gone, leaving in charge one Arthur Agnelli, a scholar of unimpeachable reputation. When a popular lecturer is accused of having an affair with one of his students, 2L Megan Milner reluctantly agrees to try to intercede with Agnelli. But is Agnelli really what he seems? And will the Dean return before the free coffee runs out?
Two L will be available on Nook and Kindle on August 29th. More next week….
Oh yes! Please! Yes!
This is fantastic! And doubly fantastic because I actually start my 1L year at Yale that very same week. 🙂
Then you should especially enjoy the skewering of HLS. 🙂
I have a Sony Reader, which reads epub files. I know that Nook also uses epub format. Do you think I’ll be able to download it on my Sony Reader? Really hope so!!!!
Will it be published in book form?
See, there’s always a reason for a Kindle!
Having just graduated from law school, I’m looking forward to seeing how you make law school seem fun. Please tell me this will also be published in book form!!
Finally purchased a Kindle two weeks ago. Now I am wondering what took me so long?!! Can’t wait to download Two L!! Thanks Lauren!
I’m wicked excited. I have always secretly wished to see something non-Carnation. I love the series dearly, but it is nice to see an author branch out and try something new.
Excellent! I used to be a lawyer (in England) so have always been conscious of that in your background. I’m so looking forward to reading
Two L and seeing how the training in America differs!! (2L means second year law, does it?) Am rushing off to re-read Measure for Measure in preparation…
Wow! It sounds delightful–I can’t wait to read this book.
Good thing there’s (free) Kindle for PC, so I can still read it even though I haven’t bought the ereader yet.
I love your Carnation books but I am SO excited to read this 🙂 God bless that free coffee…
YES. Grant applications can wait… Thanks so much for sharing this!
I’m with Celine; is there a format us Sony users can buy?
Hi, Miriam and Celine! I’m looking into the Sony question… hopefully it can be arranged!
Only on Nook and Kindle??? Bum-mer.
What a nice surprise. I will look forward to it.
