I love Halloween. It might have something to do with me watching Hocus Pocus as a child for hours on end!

My favourite holiday is Christmas, because I love the mood, I love the snow, the tree and its decorations, I love arranging the presents under the tree, and the sweets in the Xmas stocks and it’s moment where you can be with your beloved ones… yes, definitely Christmas!!

Christmas for sure. We go East (from California) to visit all our family so it is our family gathering every year for the past 20!!!!

Definitely Christmas! No other holiday comes close to matching the excitement Christmas brings, not just because of the magical atmosphere, but because it’s the one time in the year that our whole family gets together. =D

Christmas and Halloween!!! I like all the decorations and things you can make during those two holidays and all the fun you get to have with your family and friends and the caramel apples are a plus too!

I love Christmas!!! I love that it is cold outside and how the snow blankets everything, yet inside the decor is so rich in color and texture and scent that it invokes such a warm atmosphere. There is such a magic in the air. And of course I love presents!

Halloween is, hands down, my favourite holiday. The air is getting cooler and the leaves are crisp. Dressing up to go trick-or-treating or heading to a party is one of the best events of the year. Deciding what costume to wear is always so exciting! I especially love to coordinate with friends. At the end of the night, after all the apples have been bobbed and the candy corn eaten, it is lovely to congregate around the bonfire to enjoy some homemade apple cider and ghost stories.

Christmas!!! I like it so much I put my tree and decorations up on Halloween night once the trick-or-treaters are gone. I like to have a solid two-months of Christmas (and Christmas baking) every year.

Christmas–so beautiful all the reminders of hope, peace and love…..and of course: the food !!

I love Valentines day. Even if I’m single. Everything is red and romantic, and pretty lace things go on the racks at stores, it’s great to buy pretty red things and if you’re with someone, it makes it doubly special….

I’ve always loved Thanksgiving because I love the sides (not so much the turkey), and this year, we’re expecting a baby shortly after Thanksgiving!

I love Easter! I love the springtime and wearing a fun sundresses and enjoying the day with my husband and son (without all the extended family drama).

  13. Jennifer on May 30, 2011 at 5:27 pm

Congratulations to Christine for the little Thanksgiving bun in the oven!

I’ve always loved Independence Day. My family throws a big BBQ and after we eat we sit around and read the Declaration of Independence, passing it from person to person so everyone gets to read a little bit of it. I always tear up during the last paragraph. And fireworks are always a fun time. 🙂

New Year’s Eve. Our tradition is to celebrate with our college roommates — two girls that I lived with who each married one of my husband’s roommates! Most NYE since 1996 have been celebrated together, and it’s so much fun!

Mother’s Day because the day before is my mother’s family reunion. My mother’s family has gathered on the lake every year for almost 60 years. They make the worlds best BBQ. All the men spend the night before slowly BBqing a whole hog. It is so great to see all the cousins and Aunts and Uncles we never get to see. There are a lot of us. My grandfather was one of nine children.

My favourite ‘holiday’ is Easter. I’m training to be a priest, so as a theological student it is also the busiest time of the year! I love the build-up of Holy Week, transitioning between the foot-washing of Maundy Thursday, the solemnity of Good Friday, the vigil of Easter Eve and the celebration of Easter Day. Hearing a good quality choir sing at a Tenembrae service (service of the light) is the highlight – hearing the Miserere Mei in a church lit only by a single candle always sends chills down my spine.

There’s so many to choose from! I love Christmas!, for the season, the dinner, the decorations, the movies, but I also love Thanksgiving, when I was little my grandma made the best dinner and the whole family was there, and I can never pass up 4th of July with BBQ and fireworks!

I like Earth Day, but that’s for selfish reasons — it’s my birthday!!! 😛

As far as the major holidays go its Halloween and Christmas. There’s always a charge in the air between those times and its like everyone has their cup of coffee just from waking up (Plus, who can deny the history & meaning of the two holidays… sooo cool)!

  23. Brenda on May 31, 2011 at 3:25 pm

I love Christmas and Valentines Day, but my favorite is St. Patrick’s Day. Everyone is celebrating my birthday by going out and partying and they don’t even know they are celebrating my birthday.

  24. Amanda on May 31, 2011 at 7:27 pm

Definitely Christmas!!! I love the magic, the music, and the general sense of happiness. I listen to Christmas music year round…a fact that those in my life have taken time to adjust to!!!

Halloween! What’s not to love? You get to dress up as WHATEVER you want and you go around to people’s houses for FREE candy. It’s always been my favorite holiday – still fun as an adult but completely wonderful as a kid.
