ORCHID AFFAIR has a new cover!

After the equivocal response to the last cover, my publisher went back to the drawing board for The Orchid Affair.

Hot off the presses, here’s the new cover of The Orchid Affair!

The Orchid Affair comes out on January 20, 2011. It’s already available for preorder on Amazon, B&N, Borders, Booksamillion, Indiebound, and presumably other places, if I could think of them.

    GORGEOUS!!! I absolutely love it!

So much better! I recognize those lovely stock orchids, they were one of the ones I was thinking of using on my cover re-design from istock. Plus, now a matching set, as I sigh in relief, and also creepily think of Horus Slughorn in Harry Potter 6.

OMG now i am really excited for the ARC!

Oh So much better thank you dutton for listening.. these books and their covers are fantastic.. glad to see the trend stuck! i cant believe how much better.

Much better! Glad they brought back the “seal” and the flowers/border. (Of course I still wish she had a face and that they’d bring back the fine art covers, but I also wished for a pony every Christmas for 25+ years and that never happened either.) I’m really, really glad they revisited the cover!

Of course the most important thing is that you (the author) are happy with it, so I hope it’s what you wanted.

Wow, it’s stunning!! Wonderful news that the publisher ditched the original cover!!

Best News I’ve had all day!
    Big Improvement!

    Miss Eliza: Slughorn ???

The line where he’s talking about Sirus Black and how he’s the only Black he didn’t teach cause he went to Gryffindor, he says “But I would have liked the complete set.” So complete or matching set conundrums make me always think of that line, which is kind of creepy, but oh so funny.

    MUCH BETTER! I APPROVE!

I like this cover so much better! Now I really can’t wait to get my copy. 🙂

so much better, still floating body sans painting, but much less creepy. We can see Paris, which is kinda nice.

  11. Olivia on September 16, 2010 at 10:27 pm

    YAY!

I agree that I kinda would have liked the fine art…BUT I am *super* happy that the seal/border is back–that is the major thing that keeps the look of the series in my opinion. I also love that they kept the faint writing in the background from the previous cover!

    In short: I approve. 😀

Much better. It’s like a modern Pink I but with no eye. Can we get at least one eye? I just want to tug it down a fraction of an inch. 🙂

It’s a nice combo of the flowers and the seal in the title. I really like that.

It’s so fresh and bright! I like it! It has some similarities to the original cover, but it’s more in keeping with the style of the series thus far. I’m so happy and it’s half past midnight on a work night but I had to text my best friend and fellow Pink fan to tell her about Orchid’s new cover and write a comment before going to bed!

And a big thank you to the publishers for listening to what makes the readers happy!

so happy they decided to change the cover.

  16. Renee on September 17, 2010 at 9:35 am

Fabulous! This is much more in line with the previous cover. Way to go on their part for being willing to compromise!

  17. Kiley on September 17, 2010 at 11:02 am

    so much better!

  18. Sheila on September 17, 2010 at 1:14 pm

This is such an improvement, although I think the readers’ covers were all wonderful. Maybe they can keep the old art for the mass market PB edition. I am really looking forward to seeing this life size, so I can decipher the sky writing.

  19. Liz on September 17, 2010 at 1:43 pm

HURRAY!! So much better! I do miss the paintings but really like this!

  20. Veronica on September 17, 2010 at 3:22 pm

    It’s STUNNING! I love it 🙂

  21. Heather on September 17, 2010 at 4:14 pm

YAY so happy we had influence!

  22. Dayana on September 18, 2010 at 5:07 pm

OMG!!! NO WAY!! ITS SOO MUCH BETTER THEN BEFORE!!! I can’t believe how amazing it looks. Its great to know that the reader’s opinion (especially if the numbers were a lot) is being considered.

I absolutly love it! Totaly approve. Now it can be considered as a Pink Series book cover.

  23. Jessica C on September 19, 2010 at 7:07 am

Better, though I still kinda wish that they had continued with the fine art covers. But that’s just wishful thinking, and I’m glad that the new cover is much classier than the original one.

  24. Alyson on September 19, 2010 at 1:02 pm

It’s better. But I still prefer the originals with the paintings. And I agree with Miss Eliza, as Slughorn would say, I would have liked to have the complete set.

  25. Gina on September 19, 2010 at 1:53 pm

Ooh yay!!! I love it! 😀

  26. Alicia on September 19, 2010 at 8:09 pm

I LOVE this cover!! Definitely better than the original. I like that it has the European feel to it…I’m always jealous of their covers 🙂

  27. Rachel on September 20, 2010 at 12:45 pm

I miss the painting, too, but this is much better! 🙂

  28. Yvette on September 20, 2010 at 9:35 pm

MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER!!!!

(Although I still prefer the fine art covers – more of a soul in the picture that way. I can’t see this figure as having a soul. Her dress looks like it was made of polyester … the right knid of color but won’t ever EVER wrinkle.)

But you can’t have everything …

  29. jamie on October 8, 2010 at 6:08 pm

seal and flower are great! count me in with the others in that i miss the fine art covers 🙁 better than the previous for sure, but still not quite right. oh well, the story look fabulous!

  30. Nina on October 29, 2010 at 7:46 am

I hate this cover, it looks like every other romance novel that I never choose to read. This was one of the things I always liked best about the books. With the reissue of Pink and its new cover, I would have NEVER begun the series. Notice no negative comments…..do you edit or am I that unusual?

  31. Lauren on October 30, 2010 at 1:00 am

Hi, Nina! Nope, no editing. I wouldn’t want to deprive anyone of their chance to share their opinions. (Except for spam– that, I heartlessly delete.)
