Cover Contest Winners!

Words fail to express how impressed I was by the inventive and eye-catching covers that came my way during the Orchid Affair Cover Contest. To everyone who participated, I thank you for your creativity, your talent, and your time.

And now for the part we’ve all been waiting for… the unveiling of the winning covers!

In Third Place, we have #32:

… #5!

I know I said I was only going to give away three prizes, but what do rules exist for but to be broken?

In fourth place, we have an Honorable Mention, which goes to #52:

(Created by Beth Meehan)

A second Honorable Mention goes to Stephanie Ball, creator of #31, for a truly honorable act in pointing out my clerical error.

Congratulations!! As soon as I have my ARCs of Orchid Affair, there’s one for each of you….

Winners of Night Jasmine and the UK edition of Emerald Ring will be announced tomorrow.

After looking back through the votes. I believe 32 actually got third place 🙂 Might want to double check but i got 5, 32, 16,52,42 as top 5 in my count

  6. Stephanie Ball on August 11, 2010 at 4:23 pm

also have to say i absolutely love 52, and 5

Stephanie, thanks so much! You’re right– I was off by one number in my chart. Agh. Thanks for being such a good sport and pointing that out.

p.s. if anyone is curious as to why the count came out as it did, it’s because the voting was weighted: anything indicated as a first choice got three points, a second choice got two points and a third choice one point. That’s why it came out 5, 16, 32. Under straight one point per vote voting, it would have been 5, 32, 16.

Omg…stuff I voted for actually won. I feel vindicated. 🙂

Congrats to everyone on your artistic abilities. I’m quite jealous.

No problem 32 got tons of votes They worked hard on their cover i am sure and deserved the recognition and prize. 🙂 Besides i like 32 i think the most of the top 4. It would make a great jacket 🙂

Any more plans for a limited edition dust jacket 🙂 I would have to say 5 is pretty similar to a book out there, 16 doesn’t have the scroll, so my vote is for 32,52, or possibly 15 as i still think that fits this book.

Congratulations to the winners. Everyone who contributed did such an amazing job.

Lauren, thanks so much for running the contest, I was flabbergasted at how my cover ran away with it! I’m eager to get my early copy of the Orchid Affair, and if there are dust jacket limited editions, all the better! Kudos to your handling of this contest, btw, you’re a clssy chick! 😀

Does anyone know the name of the picture used as the cover for the fourth place /honorable mention created by Beth Meehan? I adore it.

  18. Sara McEachern (#32 cover) on August 14, 2010 at 6:29 am

    Oh! My! Gosh!

Thanks everyone who voted for me! This was such a fun contest, Lauren! I had such a great time creating my cover. You should have more of these little contests in the future! Tons of fun 🙂

And for all those who said that they wouldn’t be able to compete with all of the other covers because they don’t know photoshop – I did my cover (and numbers 33 and 34) on Microsoft Paint. Copy and paste. I don’t have photoshop and wouldn’t know what to do with it either! In fact, I’m sitting right now in an internet cafe in Uganda! (I’m a Peace Corps Volunteer)

Thanks again for voting for me! All the covers looked beautiful and I’m sorry only 5 were able to be chosen…they were all great! I also wish that one of these (or any of the others) could be chosen for a dust jacket. I’d love to have one of the fan-created covers sitting on my bookshelf!

P.S. Please excuse my superfluous use of exclamation points…I’m a bit excited! Internet has been out in town for a while and I’m just now finding out 🙂
