Mini-Contest!
On Facebook the other day, Katie told me about a game where she was instructed to
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
Katie informed me that the fifth sentence on page 56 of the nearest book she grabbed was:
“No, darling, I don’t mind in the least that you’ve quite ruined my prospects. I always wanted to be made a laughingstock in front of the ton.”
So here’s today’s impromptu mini-contest: which book was that from and who said it?
The winner will receive a copy of The Betrayal of the Blood Lily. I’ll pick the winner from among the correct answers and announce it here this evening.
The Seduction of the Crimson Rose. Mary Alsworthy thought it to herself.
I’m going to say… The Deception of the Emerald Ring, Mary Alsworthy saying it to Letty
Deception of the Emerald Ring!
The Seduction of the Crimson Rose. Mary Alsworthy thought (but did not voice it) in response to a comment by Letty.
The Seduction of the Emerald Rose. It was Mary Alsworthy’s thought.
That’s totally a Mary comment(well thought, in this case)! From The Seduction of the Crimson Rose.
Mary from Crimson Rose!
Seduction of the Crimson Rose!
The Seduction of the Crimson Rose.

crimson rose, Mary
Miss Mary from The Seduction of the Crimson Rose.
That would be Miss Mary Alsworthy in The Seduction of the Crimson Rose.
What an interesting idea!
Mary Alsworthy from The Seduction of the Crimson Rose!
Seduction of the Crimson Rose, US Paperback edition (ISBN 9780451224415), not hardcover, that’s an entirely different sentance.

The Seduction of the Crimson Rose – Mary Alsworthy
It was Mary from The Seduction of the Crimson Rose. (Don’t you just get a twinge reading it? Ouch.)
Yeah, Mary Alsworhty, ditto do me.
I’m beginning to think I was wrong… oh well 🙂
That was from “The Seduction of the Crimson Rose” and Mary Alsworthy said it.
Drum roll please…. “The Seduction of the Crimson Rose!!!!”
So winningly stated by none other than the lovely Mary.
This impromptu thing is fun! 😀
Mary Alsworthy in The Seduction of the Crimson Rose, trade paperback edition.
Definitely one of my favorites in the series!
Mary, from Seduction of the Crimson Rose. That is a wonderful game. 🙂
See, this is what I get for not reading the whole thing. I went and grabbed the nearest book and was getting ready to type it in when I saw all the “mary alsworthy – crimson rose” answers. 🙂
I had to reach for the book too. I really didn’t think that the phone book would have qualified.
My answer: Mary Alsworthy – Crimson Rose
The Seduction of the Crimson Rose- Mary Alsworthy!!!
Seduction of the Crimson Rose–and no one said it, but Mary Alsworthy thought it. This whole set of tete-a-tetes at Sibley Court made me love Mary. She and Penelope are my favourite characters–I like disillusioned, angry heroines.
i was thinking Mary from Crimson Rose, but when i looked in my book it was an entirely different sentence. until miss eliza said paperback edition i didn’t even think that my hardback might be different! 🙂 glad to know my first instinct was correct! 😀
