More Distractions–er, Diversions

over at History Hoydens, where I’m rambling on about the more ridiculous bits of history. You can sort of see where that mindset comes to play in the Pink Carnation books….

For reasons of space, I left out one of my favorite moments of historical slapstick: Napoleon’s wedding night, in which the future master of most of Europe was routed from the marriage bed by Josephine’s pug dog, Fortune. The irate animal took a chunk out of Napoleon’s leg when he tried to exercise his conjugal rights. Fortune did not smile on Napoleon that night.

That’s exactly why at times, we don’t need fiction, we have reality. Strange and unusual reality, but reality. You just can’t make it up, no way, no how. LOL 🙂

I wonder waht jokes people will come up with 200 years from now about our great leaders? Do you think someday the 21st century will have some romantical, historical allure? lol, it’s strange to think about :]
