Teaser Tuesday: Pink IX has a title!!

That sort of counts as a teaser, doesn’t it?

Thanks so much to everyone who suggested flowers for the title of Pink IX. It was a tough one. We’d already used roses; lilies weren’t quite right… and so on. The action of Pink IX takes place largely at Josephine’s country house, Malmaison, with its famous gardens. How to pick just one flower from all that?

So we cut the Gordian knot by going with just that: garden.

The title of Pink IX is… The Garden Intrigue.

You can read a bit of Chapter One of The Garden Intrigue here (and my favorite outtake here).

Just for fun, here’s a picture of Josephine’s garden at Malmaison. Can’t you picture Emma there?

I like it. It’s different, but keeping with the overall floral theme, and plays up the mystery aspect of the books a little more. Looking forward to it!

I like it! It’s certainly different, but I like it. Also, I just get this feeling that I’m going to like Augustus a lot –as in he’ll be right up there with Miles in my book. Only time will tell! 🙂

I like it too! I do hope we come back to individual flowers though for the next book!

I don’t mind the title, but I feel like garden should be in the title of the last novel. My reason for that is, with all of the flowery spies we have collected we have created a garden over the years and having a garden in the title of the last novel would be wrapping everything up.

    Yay!

Dear Kiley–please don’t give her any ideas about a “last novel” I am hoping to see their childeren in India and China….BTW–I love this title and think it goes well with “the Orchid Affair”

Now that we have a title, can a cover be far behind ? Hopefully , not as controversial as last time.

I agree Kiley does have a point about a “garden” representing the culmination of all the characters (and she phrased it so wonderfully) and I REALLY agree with Shelia!!! And humm, wouldn’t that be nice to see, some children for our lovely intrepid spies. I could SO see our heroines smuggling messages in soiled baby linen (hint, hint). And yes, if we could avoid covers with heaving bosoms this go around I think we’d all be super happy. Although we’ll all be super happy when The Garden Intrigue comes out no matter what!

Great title! Like the picture too. Something like that would make a great cover. At least I think it would. I am looking at it on my iPhone so I can’t see too many details. I just hope the covers go back to how they were. Is there a release date yet?

That’s really a great title! Can’t wait to read it!!!
I’m sure you’re going to amaze us once more, Lauren!

Lovely! I can’t wait! Please tell me some portion of that painting will make it onto the final cover…

I really like that title! Short, sweet, and to the point.

Shelia- I don’t want her to get any ideas about a last novel either! I enjoy reading her novels too much for them to end any time soon. I also like your idea of seeing their children having their own adventures.

I like the Garden Intrigue. It sounds more like the story, which is always plus. I think a last book in the series would be a good idea, but not a last novel ever. Probably a new series? The last book should be about Jane.
Oh and I do not miss the individual flowers– too many of them are not in the story.

well finally, someone figured out how to use intrigue! 🙂 i like it-and the mysteries of what it shall contain i am sure. i too echo the sentiments of several posters above and say that picture of malmaison or one similar would be fantastic on the cover and be more in line with historical art covers that are simply fantastic:)

To add to the comments about further character possibilities, I must admit I’d rather thought Sally, Turnip’s younger sister and her friends were a series begging to be written (once they finished school at the ladies academy). I think the title it is just fine, but good point about the culmination aspect of it. Can anyone tell me the estimated release date for it? Must mark it on my calendar! 🙂
