“Gloriously gothic” NIGHTFALL!
The second major review of What Happens at Nightfall is in– and it’s “gloriously gothic”!
The marvelous John Charles of Booklist writes:
“Wielding a delectably sharp sense of wit in the Noel Coward Blithe Spirit mode and crafting a gloriously gothic, ardently autumnal plot that rivals the supernatural novels of Elizabeth Peters and Barbara Michaels, Willig’s latest bewitching novel delivers all the goose-bumpy thrills and romantic chills readers desire. Bonus points are awarded to Willig for her clever nods to mystery classics and the deft manner in which the love story deals with grief, guilt, and the challenges of parenting.”
How often does one get to be compared to Noel Coward and Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels in the same line?
As those of you who know me know, I am a huge Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels fan. Her books were my personal how to manual as I taught myself to write as a teenager, copying her cadence, her deft hand with a snarky line. So it means so much to have my writing classed with hers!
Thank you, Booklist!!
