The Winner of the Twelfth Annual Pinkorama Contest Is….

Congratulations to all of this year’s Pinkorama winners!  Really, it’s the rest of us who are the winners for getting to see the scenes you’ve spun from marshmallow and sugar.  I am, as always, in utter awe of your peep-craft.

This year’s entries brought us everything from Sally Fitzhugh as an unlikely angel to Penelope and Charlotte crouching behind the shrubbery to Edwardian peeps in sepia.

The competition was fierce– and there was a general consensus that it was very hard to choose because they were all brilliant.

In third place we have…

Peep-times in the Park, by returning champions Candace and Cassandra, featuring a very embarrassed Charlotte and Penelope attempting to blend in with the shrubbery, a very unhappy Henrietta squeezed between Miles and that annoying Marquise, and a truly remarkable high perch all candy phaeton!

In second place, we have…

Fall of Popeeps, by mother-daughter power team Carla and Rowan, featuring the memories of peeps past laid out in glorious sepia (and a very snazzy peeptrait of the Aviator in the Iron Mask)!

In first place– drum roll, please!– the winning Pinkorama of 2022 is….

Puddings, Performances, and Peeps, by returning sister duo Carrie and Laura, featuring everyone’s favorite root vegetable, Turnip Fitzhugh, at, arguably, the worst nativity play ever (although Sally Fitzhugh objects to that description)!

Take a bow, Carrie and Laura!  This is truly a tour de peep.  What it makes it especially special is that the audience is composed of characters from past Pinkoramae– so this isn’t really just one Pinkorama.  It’s a history of the Pinkorama in a Pinkorama– in a story inside a story.  Which is something that would make Turnip’s head spin, don’tcha know, but Arabella would notice and appreciate.

So many congratulations and thanks to everyone!!  Every year I can’t imagine how these could possibly get any better– and every year they do.  I can’t wait to see what you do to top it next year!

I would also like to apologize to all of our brilliant peep-crafters for the long delays this year, first in posting the Pinkorama, then in opening it up for voting, and then in tallying the votes.  Thank you so much for your patience.  Fingers crossed that next spring will be calmer and I can post everything in a more timely fashion!  But, in the meantime, thank you for being so wonderful and understanding as well as talented.

Candance and Cassandra and Carla and Rowan will receive shiny hardcovers of The Lost Summers of Newport and a tri-signed Newport tote bag to haul them around in!  Carrie and Laura, I’m sending a tote bag your way now– and an ARC of Two Wars and a Wedding will follow as soon as there are ARCs to be had.

Thank you to everyone!!  Until next spring….
