Have author will travel!
It’s time to mark your calendars for the English Wife January book tour. I’ll be doing events in New York, Georgia, Texas, and Arizona, joined by some of my favorite writer friends.
New York: come join me for the English Wife launch party at The Corner Bookstore at 6:00 on Tuesday, January 9th.
Georgia: everything is more fun with Karen White! Karen and I will be appearing together at FoxTale Book Shoppe at 1:00 on Saturday, January 13th.
Arizona: the gang’s all here! It has been YEARS since Deanna Raybourn, Tasha Alexander, and I have gotten to do an event together (maybe people got sick of seeing us pretend to be Charlie’s Angels?). But this time… we’re finally being reunited. With the addition of one of my other favorite people, Beatriz Williams. Come find all of us at the legendary Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale at 2:00 on Sunday, January 14th.
Texas: more fun with Deanna! Deanna and I will be teaming up for another event at our beloved Murder by the Book in Houston at 6:30 on Wednesday, January 17th.
Also on the calendar: I’ll be in Gwinnett and Cobb counties in Georgia for events hosted by their respective library systems on February 9th and 10th— more on those soon!
The English Wife is also available for pre-order from all the usual suspects: in hardcover from from your favorite local bookseller, Amazon, B&N, Books-A-Million, Indiebound, and Powell’s; in e-book on Kindle and Nook; and on audio CD.
Here’s the official blurb:
From New York Times bestselling author, Lauren Willig, comes this scandalous novel set in the Gilded Age, full of family secrets, affairs, and even murder.
Annabelle and Bayard Van Duyvil live a charmed life in New York: he’s the scion of an old Knickerbocker family, she grew up in a Tudor manor in England, they had a whirlwind romance in London, they have three year old twins on whom they dote, and he’s recreated her family home on the banks of the Hudson and renamed it Illyria. Yes, there are rumors that she’s having an affair with the architect, but rumors are rumors and people will gossip. But then Bayard is found dead with a knife in his chest on the night of their Twelfth Night Ball, Annabelle goes missing, presumed drowned, and the papers go mad. Bay’s sister, Janie, forms an unlikely alliance with a reporter to uncover the truth, convinced that Bay would never have killed his wife, that it must be a third party, but the more she learns about her brother and his wife, the more everything she thought she knew about them starts to unravel. Who were her brother and his wife, really? And why did her brother die with the name George on his lips?
“Willig creates a story that is full of rich historical details about the Gilded Age in New York—the jewels, the luxurious fashions, the opulent homes, and the scandal that lurked behind the beautiful exteriors. The mystery is not easily solved, and readers will find themselves guessing until the very end…. A dark, romantic mystery full of twists and turns.” — Kirkus Reviews
