Contest #3: Pick That Tulip
Over the past decade, The Masque of the Black Tulip has made its way around the world, masking itself in a new cover for each new appearance.
US hardcover/ US paperback:
The UK/ French cover (which are surprisingly similar….):
The German/ Dutch covers:
The Russian/ Japanese covers:
The Spanish/ Portuguese covers:
(I’ve only put them in pairs to save space on the page, not out of any grand, organizational scheme.)
Which one do you like best?
One person will be chosen at random to receive a signed copy of The Temptation of the Night Jasmine, because Henrietta likes that book. (She gets to give love advice. It’s kind of her thing.)
The UK/German cover!
I love the French cover. Beautiful.
The UK cover!
The UK/French covers are striking and mysterious, but I also still like the US paperback.
Although they are all lovely, the US paperback holds the winning place in my heart.
The US hardcover is my absolute favorite! It was the first one I ever saw at my library when I started reading The Pink Carnation series and I fell in love. I was super sad I couldn’t buy that version at my bookstore.
The US Hardcover all the way! 1: Because this is actually THE cover that got me into this series. I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover but I totally do when browsing and this cover made me pick it up. 2: Because it goes on a dang hardcover book which I strongly believe should always be available. Yes, I’m still upset the last several books are only available in paperback thus throwing my OCD into fits everytime I look at the series on my bookshelf.
US Paperback! Although the French/UK ones are a close second.
I love the US paperback the best.
The US Cover! I have the hardback but my favorite is the US paperback!
The US Hardcover. Everytime I see it in my bookshelf it makes me happy! All of the covers are amazing but that one is my favorite.
I like every cover but my favourite is the UK edition.
I mostly like them all, but I think the French is my favorite, followed closely by the US paperback cover.
The U.S. paperback version gets my vote. I think it’s the prettiest of them all!
Probably I’m biased because it’s the version I have, but I love the US Hardcover artwork.
US hardcover
Closely followed by the Spanish one.
I love the Russian cover!
My daughter and I agree that it’s the U.S.hardcover all the way!
I like them all, but I love the U.S. hardcover most!
US paperback is my absolute favorite!
The US Paperback is my favorite. It is the one that first told me Miles & Henrietta’s story.
US paperback. ?
I find the US Hardcover very beautiful and the UK cover also attractive!!
US paperback because that’s how I first got my copy.
I love the UK version!
I like the US paperback cover … That may be because it’s the one I have ? But my second fave is the US hardcover
The US paperback cover is my favorite!
US paperback
US paperback
The Portuguese cover!
The German cover is gorgeous!
The US hardback. The black mask and the tulip are the focu of the picture. I loved that it wasn’t focused on the lady’s face. It was unique and, like many, I wish the later books were in hardback and had a different style. Ah well. I have this one though and it’s lovely!
I favor the US paperback, followed by the Russian cover. Somehow the style of the paintings just fits the mood.
UK/French cover all the way! So beautiful!
I love the UK/French one! It’s so elegant!
US paperback.
German/Dutch
Oops, I meant the second ones, U.K./French
U.S. hardcover, although I do like the French and Russian ones. I wish the later books had the same type of covers.
The french cover, although I will always have a sentimental attachment to the U.S. cover
I LOVE the US paperback! By far, my favorite!
My favorite is the U.S. paperback. So romantic!
UK/German for aesthetics and US paperback for pure sentimentality!
I’m biased, since the US paperback edition of “The Masque of the Black Tulip” is where I began my Pink Carnation adventure many years ago; but the Russian cover is a new favorite!
I love the US paperback. It’s the prettiest to me
I like the US hardcover.
US edition is my favorite!
US hardcover
The U.S. paperback cover is my favorite. But, you know, it’s what’s inside that counts.
US hardcover is my favorite but the French one is beautiful too!
I own the US hardcover but I LOVE the US paperback! Part of me is itching to buy all of the books in paperback too.
I love the cover of the UK/French edition. The rest of them are lovely too!
US cover
The US paperback cover!
Love the German cover!
I’ve always loved the us paperback cover
The US paperback cover
German. Nice twist
Well, I am particularly fond of the US paperback cover as that is the one I own and have read to pieces, but I must say the UK/French covers are very striking.
They are all lovely, but I still think the US paperback is my favourite. Such a beautiful painting.
I love, love the US paperback cover. You probably don’t remember, but I emailed you and asked the name of the painting. You sent a very kind reply and told me the name of the painting. That was my first interaction with an author. A nice moment for me. Thanks once again!
You’re welcome, Teje! : )
I love the US paperback the best!
Portuguese
US Hardcover. It’s got the black tulip.
US hardcover captures the essence of the book for me
The second US cover
They are all captivating, but I especially love the UK cover.
I love the US paperback cover. (And the entire series was wonderful!)
US Paperback
The French cover is lovely!
The French cover…It just seems to fit…
Love the US paperback cover. Though the Dutch cover is very Henrietta to me. So fun!
I really like the US paperback copy. It doesn’t give anything away of how the plot will develop! You never know what’s hidden underneath or what secrets people have!
I like the UK version the best.
The US paperback is by far my favorite! Beautiful!
The UK cover is my favorite. It has a slight edge over the French cover for better text layout and not slicing off the top of the model’s head.
My favorite is the US paperback cover. I like a glimpse of what the heroine looks like.
The US paperback cover by far!!
French cover
I love the French one. So pretty!
Bringing back such great memories-it has to be the US paperback
My favorite is the US paperback cover, Its beautiful!!!
The US paperback!
I like the US paperback cover the best. The painting and the blue colors just seemed to fit for Henrietta as I picture her.
I really like the German cover.
I like the German one because it captures the ominous tone of the book. There’s still plenty of humor in The Black Tulip, but for me it had more feeling of danger than the rest of the series.
They’re all pretty–but the Japanese one seems to have no connection at all to the book.
