Happy Things

silence for the deadOn my list of happy things this week:

— Getting my hands on an advance copy of the new Simone St. James, Silence for the Dead. (Don’t worry: it will be up for grabs here on the website next Monday!)

Ashford Paperback— Discovering that The Ashford Affair had been chosen for this year’s DABWAHA slate in the Novel With Strong Romantic Elements category. The DABWAHA, aka the Dear Author Bitchery Writing Award for Hellagood Authors, is an annual contest sponsored by Smart Bitches Trashy Books and Dear Author, in which readers vote for their favorites out of a slate of eight books per category. This is my very first DABWAHA nomination, so I’m absolutely thrilled! passion

(Side note: the sponsors choose seven of the eight nominees, leaving the eighth nominee up to popular vote. If anyone feels like voting for The Passion of the Purple Plumeria in the historical romance category– or any of your other favorite 2013 books!– you can find the nomination form here.)

That Summer (3) — Finding that Amazon and B&N now have the cover of my June book, That Summer, up– which just makes the book feel more real, somehow.

rebel pirate— And, last but not least, realizing that somehow I managed to acquire not one, not two, but three copies of Donna Thorland’s The Rebel Pirate, which means that there’ll be some more swashbuckling from my website to your bookshelf. Possibly a Facebook giveaway this time?

And those are my happy things for today! What are yours?

My friend and I came up with a brilliant idea for a hot new YA trilogy. I do the writing, he just needs a producer’s credit when it becomes a movie series. We even incorporated a big part for someone who came into the room while we were talking about it. It made me giggle. Or at least kept us entertained during lunch.

    Hallo Ms. Willig,

Oh, my goodness there is a *new!* Simone St. James!? I had put in a purchase REQ at my local library months ago, but something went array! 🙁 I’m hoping enough time has gone by, I want to ILL it instead! 🙂 Ever since you first blogged about her writings I’ve been itching to dive directly into the heart of the story-lines! Thank you for always giving us such an inspiring choice of ‘next reads’!! 🙂
