Teaser Tuesday: Coming up in 2015….

I’ve just started work on my 2015 book, which will henceforth be known as The 1927 Book. (That sounded somewhat more descriptive than “Stand Alone #3.)

The first line? “Only a week, and already the cottage felt different.”

The 1927 book (which will presumably come out in 2015) is about a young woman who discovers, on her mother’s death, that the father she believed had died when she was a child is alive and well– and an earl. Not only that, but he has a whole other family: a wife, an heir, and a daughter just a few years younger than our heroine, Rachel. Still reeling with grief for her mother, furious at her father’s long betrayal, Rachel teams up with enigmatic Simon Montfort as she embarks on a mission into the heart of high society. But is revenge really what she wants?

More on the 1927 book as it unfolds!

In the meantime, we have Stand Alone #2, That Summer (aka The Victorian Book, aka The Preraphaelite Book) coming out on June 3, with Pink XI, The Mark of the Midnight Manzanilla, following on August 5th.

I’m guessing (or maybe you’ve already said it?) that there won’t be any modern timeframe in this new book?

I’m very very excited for both of this year’s releases!! Can’t wait to read them!

That’s the plan! I’m guessing this one will stay in 1927, but we’ll see how it goes.

I don’t know if you get this question a lot, but are you going to write a book about Tommy Fluellen?? Please say yes!

    • Lauren on February 5, 2014 at 12:20 pm

Hi, Priyanka! Originally, Tommy was going to have the tenth book in the series (along with Colonel Reid’s daughter, Kat)– but then Miss Gwen hijacked it and Tommy and Kat got bumped from the schedule. I’d love to write Tommy’s book, but I’m not sure I’m going to be able to fit it in to the queue.

Lauren, you have so many ideas flowing from that fertile mind of yours you should clone yourself. That Summer sounds fantastic.

Simon Montfort ??? Are you going to back to the Middle Ages? Whatever you do, can’t wait !!

I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that! For some reason, the name just fit the character, and no other would work. And I took out the “de”. : )

There is an excellent novel by Sharon Kay Penman, Falls the Shadow, which tells the story of Simon de Montfort and King Henry III. This is the second in a trilogy beginning with Here Be Dragons and ending with The Reckoning for any medieval fans. Penman has really focused on Henry Plantagenent and Eleanor of Aquitane and their sons in recent years – new novel to follow Lionheart – last years of King Richard.
