Mistletoe Monday

Happy Monday, all! There wound up being a rather ridiculous travel glitch over the weekend, but the silver lining– since there’s always a silver lining– was a conversation over on my Facebook author page, in which Miss Gwen somehow wound up going head to head against Dr. Who, parasol versus sonic screwdriver.

I’m still not quite sure how we got from A to B there.

So here’s my question: Which combo of characters would amuse you the most? Miss Gwen meets Dr. Who? Lady Uppington meets Mrs. Brady? The Dowager Duchess of Dovedale meets the Incredible Hulk? You get the idea.

One person will be chosen at random to receive a Mistletoe magnet calendar. Winner to be announced on Wednesday.

A rather big announcement coming up on Teaser Tuesday tomorrow!

Richard Selwick meets Zorro! Wouldn’t they have a jolly old time?

The Dowager Duchess of Dovedale meets Simon Cowell! Rappier wits collide! Insults abound and a bandage for Simon at the end of it all! 🙂

    Lord Vaughn meets Darth Vader.
    Turnip meets Ferris Bueller.
    Miss Gwen meets Mary Poppins.
    Mary Alsworthy meets Scarlett O’Hara.
    …this is fun!

If you manage to squeeze Doctor Who inside one of your novels, I’ll rever you for the rest of my life! 🙂 I’m a huge fan!!!

Miss Gwen meets Mrs. Bale (of As Time Goes By)..they’d either be BFFs or hate each other on sight!

I’m trying to figure out who should meet Captain Jack Sparrow…that could be fun. Richard, probably.

I love the Doctor more than is probably healthy. That being said, I’d love for him to sit and have a chat with Whittlesby. I think the two of them could have an amusing conversation, filled with entirely too many obscure metaphors. 😀

Oh my, some of these are wonderful!

I love the Mary Alsworthy meets Scarlett O’Hara and Richard meets Zorro!

I think Arabella Dempsey meets Jo March!

    Turnip meets Inspector Clouseau

  10. Catie on June 6, 2011 at 3:20 pm

I line of the Scarlet and Mary, I would sanction a meeting between Rhett Butler and Penelope Deveraux. Or Reed as she now is….

Also, a meeting between Eloise and Jane Austen would be fascinating!

  11. AnneK on June 6, 2011 at 3:35 pm

OH! How to choose! Of the original lineup, I really would live to be a fly on the wall during a conversation between Lady Uppington and Mrs. Brady. I’m chuckling just thinking about that!

Thank you Meredith for the idea of Turnip and Ferris Bueller! And Thank you Bridget for May meets Scarlett!

I cannot decide if I would like Charlotte (and Robert, too, I guess) to meet Kermit the Frog or Miss Piggy. Really I guess, if she meets one she meets the other…

Love the idea of Richard meeting Zorro. Richard could also meet 007.

Turnip meets Inspector Clouseau would be great.

Oh, Mary Vaughn meeting Scarlett O’Hara. Perfect choice. I wonder who would be standing at the end.

Jane’s Father meeting James Herriott. Talking sheep and all.

  13. Amanda V on June 6, 2011 at 6:04 pm

Henrietta and Elizabeth Bennett…Henrietta would have seen right through Wickham and told Lizzy to go after Darcy!

  14. Christine on June 6, 2011 at 6:37 pm

Amy and Henrietta vs. Nancy Drew

  15. Olivia on June 6, 2011 at 7:07 pm

Lord Vaughn and Q (Of Star Trek fame)

  16. Hannah T on June 6, 2011 at 7:30 pm

    Charlotte and Jane Eyre!
And I must say that I love the thought of Miles meeting Robin Hood or the Scarlet Pimpernel!

  17. Sheila on June 6, 2011 at 7:32 pm

    Lord Vaughan meets Richard Sharpe

Turnip meets Jack Sparrow…what a team, with Turnip’s absurd knack for always stumbling into doing the right thing and Jack’s wildness, they could completely bamboozle Bonaparte.

  18. Ellen on June 6, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Miss Gwen and Amelia Peabody! Although that might be too much of a muchness!!

  19. Liz on June 6, 2011 at 8:29 pm

I’d like to see Turnip meet Stacey and Clinton from What Not to Wear…I can only imagine the carnation-patterned waistcoat in the 360-mirror.

I also have to wonder if Austin Powers would fit in well with the Selwick School of Espionage. Would he have made Delaroche randy do you think? Talk about a concealed weapon.

Lol i love doing this but so far my favorite live combo is
Martha Stewart and Dennis Rodman. LMAO think they would drive each other nuts.

as for pink books….you have accomplished my favorite. Napoleon VS miss Gwen LOL. but i guess a close second would be

Emma and Henrietta, a little sanity, a lot of matchmaking.

    #17 and #18 are superb.

Might I suggest Augustus Whittlesby and Richard Sharpe? How about Miss Gwen and Harry Flashman? Who would come out on top of the battle of wit if Lord and Lady Peter Wimsey and Lord and Lady Vaughn were together at a boring party?

  22. Gigi on June 7, 2011 at 1:13 am

    Lady Uppington vs. Molly Weasley
    Miss Gwen vs. Amelia Peabody
Henrietta vs. Lady Georgianna Rannoch (from Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen)
    Lord Vaugn vs. Professor Snape
    Richard vs. Macgyver
Amy and Henrietta vs. Nancy Drew
This is just too much fun!
Amy and Henrietta vs. Daisy Dalrymple
Geoffrey or Richard vs. Sebastion St. Cyr (from C.S. Harris’s series)
Turnip Fizhugh vs. Freddy Standen (from Cotillion by Georgette Heyer)
Lord Vaughn vs. Shakespeare ( can you see it now?! )
    Mr. Alsworthy vs. Mr. Bennet
Oh and who ever said Mary Alsworthy and Scarlet O’Hara was a genius!

  23. Jessica C on June 7, 2011 at 4:04 am

The Dowager Duchess of Dovedale and Lady Bracknell (from The Importance of Being Ernest) – I don’t know if they would end up being firm friends or fierce enemies!

  24. Bridget on June 7, 2011 at 12:11 pm

I know I already commented but I love Gigi’s Lady Uppinton vs. Molly Weasley!!!

  25. Carrie on June 7, 2011 at 12:19 pm

I would have to say a combination of Miss Gwen meets Dr who…. I am a fan of both.. 😎

  26. Rachel R on June 7, 2011 at 2:55 pm

Miles meets Nick Charles from The Thin Man

Turnip meets Screech from Saved by the Bell

  27. Nicole N on June 7, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Penelope and Diana Villiers from O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin books. They can bond over being Englishwomen in India and their love of shooting, driving, and riding.
