More Casting Fun
My family has a holiday tradition of giving each other movies– almost always BBC comedies or costume dramas– and then watching them all in great, multi-hour marathons. One of this year’s BBC haul was Lark Rise to Candleford, from which my little sister chose this actress to play Letty from Deception of the Emerald Ring:
And here’s Miss Eliza’s pick for Letty, from her casting series on Strange and Random Happenstance:
Who would you cast as Letty?
p.s. you can also see Miss Eliza’s picks for Geoff, Mary, and Lord Vaughn on her site.
I love Lark Rise to Candleford. I can’t wait for season two on DVD in February, and season three should be starting soon. Olivia Hallinan is such a good actress! She was heartbreaking on the episode of Torchwood, Out of Time.
I think that Catherine Zeta-Jones should be the Marquise de Monteval. She absolutely gorgeous! I always picture her in my mind 🙂
And Jeremy Sumpter (from Peter Pan 2003) should be Miles. Maybe a bit young…but oh so sexy 🙂
Chelsey, I always saw Catherine Zeta-Jones as the Marquise de Montval, too!
What a wonderful family tradition of giving and watching DVDs!
I love casting suggestions. I haven’t seen “Lark Rise to Candelford”, but she looks right for Letty. I saw “Sherlock Holmes” yesterday (loved it) and was reminded that Leslie Carroll once suggested Robert Downey Jr. for Charles. Which suddenly made sense to me after the film.
Interesting! I would never have thought of Robert Downey Jr. for Charles– or for Sherlock Holmes. I’m trying to think who I would cast for Charles….
I wouldn’t have thought of Downey for either character either, but he made a great Holmes. And he had a lot of qualities–burning intelligence, emotional reserve, compassion underneath–that would work well for Charles.
Do let me know who you’d cast as Charles! I always love hearing people’s ideas…
I have decided that your books need to be a really long BBC miniseries, Lauren! And Mary Alsworthy should definitely be played by Natalie Dormer 🙂
I loved Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes, the movie was very entertaining and fun, plus lots of great BBC actors in the smaller roles!
hmmm, I loved Miss Eliza’s Amy. She was her best casting choice so far. I am not sold on others (although admittedly I do remember them all). I thought Geoff was shorter with dark hair. and Henrietta seems off,
That being said her choice for Letty is interesting. I would cast her as Charlotte. She reminds me of the cover art for Night Jasmine.
As to who I would cast as Letty myself…
I need time to think about it.
Jamie Bamber is pretty darn short 😛
