Final Tuesday Trivia Contest!
There is one last, lonely ARC of Night Jasmine sitting on my kitchen chair. Forlorn and bereft without its brethren, it needs a good home.
So, for the last ARC of Night Jasmine, here’s our final Tuesday question:
Which Pink Carnation character would you most like to see star in his/her own book?
Check back here on Wednesday for the announcement of the Winner of the Last ARC!
Jane. Flowery spies starring in books and falling in love seems to be a trend… She’s worked hard, and I think she deserves a book of her own.
Colin. He’s never really specified what he currently does for a living, and I’d love to see the flowery tradition continue. Let the naming game begin… The Russet (in honor of Eloise’s hair, of course) Anthurium, anyone?
I also would most like Jane to have her own novel. We have yet to learn more about Jane and she is, after all, The Pink Carnation!
Penelope! (Although up until now I would have said Charlotte.)
Jane oh course! I know she’s rather busy, but she could use a little romance in her life. Although a prequel featuring a young Miss Gwen might be intriguing . . .
Somehow I can see this working.
I think, simply because I know that Jane will get her own book at some point, and because Miles has already had his book (though I wouldn’t say no to another book all about miles ;D), Penelope.
I think she would be a perfect cynical heroine – not easily won over by anyone (and of course it has nothing to do with the fact that she reminds me of myself!)
Yes! I agree with Camille la Flamme but didn’t want to seem silly for suggestion the relationship.
Just like Turnip in the Pink Carnation series, Sir Percy in the Scarlet Pimpernel wasn’t considered the brightest either. It’s the perfect coverup! Everyone sees Turnip like people saw Sir Percy– and would never suspect Turnip for anything, let alone for being a spy.
Somehow… it just works.
I’d love to see Reginald “Turnip” Fitzhugh have his own book. I’ve always wanted to see more of him in the series!
I’m really looking forward to reading the books about Jane and Penelope (Lauren has said she’s planning on writing a book for Jane, and I can’t see Penelope being the only one from that trio left a spinste) but for origionality’s sake, I’m gonna say a character who I don’t see as having a book in the works and say the book I’d love to read is Miss Gwen’s book. I want to know about what she was like as a girl (I’m SURE there was a tragic love story there somewhere) and i want to read the romance she’s been writing!
In terms of heroes, Wickham from the war office might be a candidate…
Turnip, I’m sure there’s more to him than we’ve seen!
Jane. I want to know more about her.
I’m waiting patiently for Penelope’s book.
I would love a book about Penelope!
I know it’s already been promised, but I’m looking forward to reading Jane’s book.
Apart from Jane, I would like to learn more about Mrs. Arabella Selwick-Alderly, who, in my imagination, was inspired by her female ancestors and worked as a spy during WW2. Or something like that 😉
Even though I think Turnip needs his own book more, I’d have to say I can’t wait to read Jane’s book.
Like everyone else, I await Jane’s book like a child awaits Santa. But I’d love for Letty and Hen to have a book together too. They’re two of my favourite heroines in the series and they could use more face time, particularly together.
This is a tough one… I think I’m perfectly fine with any character in the spotlight! Although I do believe Turnip would be a fun character to read about!
Penelope, definitely. I think I even expected her storyline to show up in the series before Charlotte. But the order doensn’t matter to me!
As Jane is already having her own book, I hope, and Penelope has already been mention, I think I’m going to say that I think Lord and Lady Uppington should have their own book. But if you just had Lady Uppington making life interesting for Richard and Henrietta, I’d be alright with that too… The scene where she arrived/invaded Richard’s home was most probably the scene from The Pink Carnation which I actually laughed out loud about.
I would have to say Jane. There’s just so much we don’t know about her! It would be sooooo exciting to hear that he was next!
I would def say Jane. I’d love to see her thoughts on once being a gal from Shropshire, becoming the Pink Carnation, and participating in all the adventures after. Although I completely agree with what other people say about Colin. I am really intrigued to see what it is he actually does for a living now, since he does seem to be mysterious about it:) Hope everyone has a great day!
I guess it’s not original, but Jane. Just don’t set her up with Turnip 🙂
I would love to see Miss Gwen get her own book, so that we can finally see how her horrid novel turns out. I’d like to see what kind of man could catch her eye.
And also, though these characters have yet to exist, I wouldn’t mind having a second generation Pink Carnation cast of characters. A Richard Jr. or Miles and Hen’s little girl (because a man like Miles would end up with a daughter) carrying on the flowery family legacy…I can see it now…
Jane, and I think maybe Turnip and Penelope. He needs a little love.
I just read the entries and think that along with Jane and Turnip and Penelope, the whole Mrs. Gwen and Wickham at the War Office suggestion was very original. Interesting.
Miss Gwen for sure. Love her.
And don’t worry about your last, lonely ARC. I’ve got plenty of books to keep it company. It must come home with me.
I’d like to see Miss Gwen with her own book, I’d love to see the man who gets past her parasol. I’d also love to see Penelope with her own book, she can’t be the only one left out.
I second whoever said Colin. I mean, I’m not talking time travel, but I would like to know more about his personal motives. Maybe it could be paired with a Miss Gwen story.
Jane, of course, but I’d also love to see some of the story through the eyes of the (in)famous Jillian! 🙂
I’d love to see the Dowager Duchess of Dovedale star in her own book!
Jane, Jane, Jane! – I can’t wait for her story!
I think Jane’s family probably has some history to share with us. I bet Jane got them all involved with her adventures in some way…
Either Jane or Colin. I’d love to see things through their eyes!
Jane is the obvious choice, but I feel that her witty repartee with her suitor would be particularly enjoyable.
Thanks for asking that!
Hmm… Let’s see… I would love for Jane to have her own story, although that would mean the end of the series. No need to hurry that up. I would love for it to be set in Portugal — there have been allusions to that in earlier books. Maybe during the Napoleonic invasion, and she could aid the royal family in their escape to Brazil(in 1807)? I would also love to see more of the Colin and Eloise story, with plenty of details. I would also like to see Miss Gwenn find her match, altough I suspect that it would require a formidable man. And, finally, perhaps dear turnip could find a suitable vegetable match…
I think I’d like see Penelope have a story. Especially now that both of her best friends have had their own. She appears to have just as much spunk as Henrietta. It would be fun!
Personally, I was intrigued by Augustus Whittlesby, “author of the most execrable effusions of verse to ever assult the ear”. Could there be a woman out there to see beneath the effusions?
I think Miss Gwen demands a book of her own!
Personally, I would love to read a book about Miss Gwen!
Ooh, yes, I agree with Jelena, I think it would be a great idea to have a book about Mrs. Selwick-Alderly, although that would move you into a different time period so perhaps that is unlikely. If it is going to stay within the same era, I would say Penelope.
I can’t wait for a book about Jane, obviously. I think that Miss Gwen will play an important role in this book too. In Jane’s book, both of them will probably find the love. One will find the love that she didn’t know she was looking for and one will find the love she had given up on. Also, while it is sad that this book may be an end of an era, I am hoping the story may continue on through the past hero’s children 🙂
I’m torn between Penelope and Colin. I’m dying to know if Colin is a spy; that tower at his home seemed very suspicious. However, I’d love to see Penelope end up with someone not so dashing and very infuriating. It would make for an interesting read.
Oh, it’s hard to decide, but I’d have to go with Jane, too. She’s just a great heroine, and I can’t wait to meet the guy good enough for her. Also, I’d love to read a story about Penelope, and maybe see a little through Colin’s eyes. It’s too hard to pick just one!
Anyone! Keep writing lots and lots of books! I figure Jane will be the last story, but I do really want to see her romance (if I really had to choose…and a lot of people are choosing her). What I really want is 50 Lauren Willig books on the bookshelf at home. So continue writing anyone/everyone. Someone had a comment about moving to a different time period (after Jane)…I say “BRILLIANT!”
I would like to see some new characters! Like maybe a french agent working with the pink carnation. or maybe some of the royal family, like a prince or cousin to the king. Or in Seduction, it was “rumored” that the league of the purple gentian started back up. I would LOVE to hear those stories! Afterall, Richard and Miles need to reconcile, and they are probably bored in retirement :o) For existing characters, I would vote turnip. He would be just too funny!
Jane…of course because it just has to be a fantastic story. Who will sweep her off her feet? Or better yet who will she sweep off his feet?
I think I’d like to hear Jane’s story. I’d love to read about all her adventures.
I’d like to say Jane but since I’m afraid the series would be over if that happened then I’d like to see Penelope instead.
Of course I would like to learn more of Colin’s background as well.
Thanks, I’ve enjoyed this series so much and I’m really looking forward to the next one.
At first, I immediately thought of “Turnip” Fitzhugh — he’s such a “quirky” character. Then I thought it was time for Jane to get her “turn” in the spotlight. But after reading some of the other comments, I agree that Colin would be a good choice too.
I really want to read Jane’s story, but that would be the end of the series.
I agree with Catherine that Wickham from the war office would be a good hero.
I’m looking forward to Jane’s story, of course, but since we already know that’s coming eventually, I think a book starring Miss Gwen would be a great idea.
I sat trying to think of another character other than Jane while I should have been working on my final paper for King Lear, but I couldn’t think of anyone. Since the first book, I have felt a kinship with Jane. She appears to be very quiet and poised, but there’s so much more to her than meets the eye. I’d like to she how she feels about this perception, and I’d like her to find someone who loves every single one of her characteristics, whether it be the dutiful Jane or the dashing spy.
Penelope. And I don’t think that the series necessarily needs to end with Jane’s book!
I do hope poor Turnip gets redeemed somehow, though I don’t see Penelope or Jane as the ladies for him!
I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who wants Turnip to get his own story! In following grand “Scarlet Pimpernel” tradition, his lack of intelligence has to be a brilliant act, right?
Wow – these are all great! But I always hoped for a story and someone for Serena, Colin’s sister. She was unlucky in love and seems a bit lonely. Think about it!
I really like Jelena’s suggestion of Mrs. Selwick-Alderly, but I’m have to say my top pick would be Penelope. Oooh! But I’d also LOVE to read more about Miss Gwen! Too many good characters…
Serena, because I like her slightly complicated life. What was her interaction with the other curator? Her interactions with her brother? Her continuing relationship with Eloise?
I would like to see Jane’s little sister, Agnes, join her sister in some antics.
It is so hard to choose just one!!
I can’t wait to read Jane’s book. That said, I’d love to read more about Serena and Turnip too. Really, I just want MORE of everybody. LOL
I wish Miss Gwen would star in her own book. Not that she needs a man, but I think it would be funny to see her in love!
Jane, she needs a book of her own. I’d love to see someone try to win her over! Not to mention it would be great to see the master spy at work.!
Jane and Augustus Whittlesby!
Penelope! She and Hen are my favorite characters and I just know Pen could get into a world of trouble with her own book. But my friend Rikki and I were also discussing the thought of the Selwick’s having their story told. Both would be well worth reading!
Jane, she deserves her own book. I also would love to read a lot more about Colin, maybe his own book too :o)
Jane. She would definitely need a special type of male counterpart who would be supportive of her not being a typical lady. It might be fun to see shaken up by love, since she is usually so calm and collected.

Turnip is my favorite. 🙂
Amy’s brother Edward would make an interesting hero!
Jane. So..does this mean that you are going to tell us who the next book is about?!?!
I personally would love to see Mr. Whittlesby become a hero. He deffinitly has a certain charm about him. And only a very secure man would go about composing odes to the “pulchritiudinous princess of the azure toes.” We also know he’s already in league with Jane. He could be perhaps the perfect man for her. He seems clever and witty I’d love to read more of his unfortunate poetry.
I would love to see Penelope in her own book!
She is funny, witty and would seem to be the type of person to constantly get herslef into a spot of trouble.
Jane! I have been waiting to see who see will fall in love with! Shes always so level headed and cool I want to see what happens when she meets someone and what it will end up doing for her.
I second the Jane and Augustus Whittlesby one. That or Jane and a handsome, witty stranger. Maybe an enemy?
Miss Gwen. I know she’s the spinster aunt but her character is so fun to read about! She’s probably one of my favorite characters and I’d like to read her story (about her or maybe versions from her point of view).
Even though I am sure most have said Jane. I would love to see/read about the person behind the pink flower. It would be interesting how she accepts falling in love with someone and juggling her day job. As we all know the other spies did not always accept it all that well.
I’d love to see a book about Jane.
Jane, but since she’s already in the works I’d vote for Penelope.
I would love to see a book for Jane, to get inside her head as opposed to seeing her through everyone else’s eyes in the other books so far.
Jane of course! But aside from the obvious, I would love to read about either Mrs. Selwick-Alderly or Miss Gwen. I’m sure they both had some crazy adventures during their youth!
I want to see Augustus Whittlesby get his own book. He has played a minor role in a couple and we have seen him but I want to get to know him. I think that he would make and interesting Hero.

Though it may be unoriginal, Jane! I think it would be fitting for her to have the last word in a book that ties up the threads of Eloise’s research… although she would need a special hero indeed.
I loved Cho’s comment about Jane. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if she fell for someone from the other side? If anything could ruffle her feathers, that would probably be it!
Ms. Gwen. I believe she has some character that just needs to come out.
I would love to see Jane have her own book! Of course I have to agree that if it means the series would end I would be willing to wait. I also would like to read more about colin. I think he has a good story waiting to be told!
I would love to see Miss Gwen get her own book. She cracks me up!
I would like to see Jane get her own book. We know so little about her personal life. Also I would love some more information about Colin.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Augustus Whittlesby, the expatriate English poet who we later learn is in league with the Pink Carnation. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t been mentioned since his brief appearance in the Black Tulip, so I’d love to see him again!
I second the suggestion of a book about Serena!
I suggested Charles and Marianne a while ago, but I think I would really like to see the Marquess and Marchioness of Uppingtion get their own adventure…
At first I was going to say Charles, the elder Selwick son because no one would expect him to be involved in espionage and thus he clearly must be, but I am also intrigued by Mme. Fiorila. She would make an excellent heroine and her connections with Lord Vaughn could certainly lead to some intrigue.
I think miss qwen diserves her own book and her own happiness. Not that she is not happy in her own way but i feel like a strong man that would stand up to her would be great for her character. It would probibly be the funniest book of the serise and have the most potential to bring in all of the characters.
I vote Serena and Jillian should have their own book where they become friends and somehow Jay (remember- weird guy from 3rd book? “scarlet pumpernickel”) could be involved. He would foil everyone’s plans… and Colin could make fun of him some more!
If I remember correctly, I believe that there are some boring younger siblings that Jane might find had grown up and become quite interesting. Perhaps a visit to Jane could involve them in a daring scheme. Amy has a brother, as well. Perhaps he is not as oblivious as he seems to the activities of his household in France and could feature in some way. The “spy school” could also introduce new characters. I agree with Erica that Richard and Miles must reconcile at some point. Perhaps one of the students could facilitate that through a story about that. Our newest hero, Robert, is traveling with a companion, he could feature in another novel. The rumors of the Pink Carnation at work in different parts of the world could spin off into several side books with appearances by Jane either through letters (for Eloise to find at Selwick Hall)or actual appearance by Jane. I hope to see MANY, MANY books before this series end!
I think that anybody from Eloise’s time the present having a book would just be about them and would have nothing to do with the Napolieonic era. Maybe as a side book she could go deeper into the lives of Serena all the way up to Eloise herself. Personaly I think that Penelope should have a book about her. I mean we already covered all of the girls from the first book except for her. I think that Penelope could get herself into a fun little adventure and cause so much damage to Napolieons plans.
I have to say Jane also……….
I think Penelope should have her own book. I think she has a lot of potential for herself.
Don’t pick me for the book because I already have my own lovely copy, but I did want to throw in my two cents. . . although they already have been mentioned. LOL The number one book I definitely can’t wait for is Jane’s. . . but I also would love to see Miss Gwen’s too! 🙂
Penelope – a part of me is scared she’ll be paired with Turnip but that’s just the risk I’ll take!
Jane! She deserves it after being in the shadows for so long! (even though it is her job….)
i would love to see Reginald Fitzhugh get his own book. He’s such a loveable character, even if he has the mental capacity of a turnip. He deserves to find someone who loves him even when he wears those horrible pink carnations (!) all over his clothes.
I would love to read a book devoted exclusively to Jane. She’s such a brilliant character so her match would hopefully be someone equally stimulating.
While I’m all about Jane, I’d love to know if any of her sisters inherited her spy finesse!
Oh, and also – Miss Gwen? Best chaperone ever! I would love to at least see her get a happy ending along with Jane!
Penelope! She seems as sarcastic as me. Give that girl a book!
I would have to say Jane as she needs her own story.
Definitely Jane, but I also want to know more about Colin.
I so looking forward to Jane’s book – she is an amazing character and the gentleman who can win her heart will have to be quite the paragon… As for looking forward to at least a cameo, I would LOVE to get a peak into the married life of Vaughn & Mary!
Penelope shes amazing
I get the feeling that since the next book will tell Charlotte’s tale that we may get to see a lot of Penelope. However, while I would like to see Penelope with a story of her own, I have to say that I would love to read Jane’s story next. The Pink Carnation needs to meet her match!
Oh, and how about a small flirtation for Miss Gwen? Perhaps Stwyth can take on this daunting task!
PS how about henrietta and richard’s parents?
I know this is late but I would love to see a book for Penelope. And Jane of course to top things off would rock my socks.
I do disagree, however, that Jane should end up with Turnip. I think that there is some chemistry for her with the poet in France, Whittleby or some such name. The one who pretends to be a terrible silly poet but works for Jane. There were definite possibilities in Masque or Emerald Ring.
Thank you so much for giving us presents of chapters and cookies! Can’t wait for Charlotte’s book to come out.
Okay, some I’m late in the game, but I figured to throw in my 2 cents. I’m not going to mention who I think should get a book since everyone has everything covered already. 🙂
I don’t know if it’s worth a book, but definitely chapters on the Lord & Lady Uppington’s history. Too many hints have been dropped that their match was um…interesting/quick/hush-hush??
I also wouldn’t mind seeing a more Russion twist in the books either. We’ve covered France, Ireland and a teeny bit (but I guess more is coming of) India. Russia brings in another little twist, don’t you think? 🙂
But to be honest, my fav’s are Henrietta and Miles. I ::heart:: them. You can never have too much on them. Keep them coming!!
