Weekly Reading Round-Up
Happy Friday!
This week, I plunged into the pile of ARCs that’s been waiting for me. For anyone who’s been having Bridgerton withdrawal, I strongly recommend placing Martha Waters’s To Have and to Hoax on your pre-order list. It’s a rambunctious, tongue-in-cheek, all-the-banter Regency romp, featuring a husband and wife at odds and best friends who are pure sequel fodder. If you’ve also been missing fun Regency romantic comedies, put this one on your to read list.
Moving back to Golden Age crime for a bit, I visited with a spate of renowned mystery authors in Go Ask a Policeman, an anthology in which Dorothy Sayers and others have their signature detectives pit their wits against the murder of an insufferable media moghul. How can one say no to Peter Wimsey, Mrs. Bradley, and others all in the same place? I’m always so excited when I find Wimsiana I haven’t read yet.
Right now, I’m revisiting 1990s Scotland with a vintage Alexandra Raife novel (1990s Scottish women’s fiction), The Way Home, about three sisters who inherit the family estate in Scotland after their despised stepmother dies and have to come to terms with their lives.

I just finished reading Would Like to Meet by Rachel Winters and it’s a fabulous contemporary rom-com. It reminded me of the Sophie Kinsella and Jane Green’s writing from the early aughts.
Always a Friday highlight to seeing what you’ve been reading, Lauren (and everyone else)! I read The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living thanks to someone’s recommendation recently and loved it 🙂 Also got through Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert, Hot Dog Girl by Jennifer Dugan (YA), and A Well-Read Woman: The Life, Loves, and Legacy of Ruth Rappaport by Kate Stewart.
What is Bridgerton ??? Is “To Have and to Hoax” part of a series or a stand alone book?
“The Bridgertons” is a series by Julia Quinn and is really good! Netflix optioned it recently and the show should come out next year or so. https://www.goodreads.com/series/40393-bridgertons
How fun to hear about a Netflix version of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton family. Haven’t read them all but always fun! I finished The Book Charmer and cant decide what to read next so everyone’s choices will be most useful!🌸

I’m rereading A Discovery Of Witches – I can’t get these characters out of my head. I have already read the book twice since June and I was supposed to be reading it along with the time frame the book is set over the course of 40 days starting on September 18th…well that isn’t working out so well. I blew past the timeline and am 67% done with the book that was supposed to take me through Halloween and I will probably be done with it before Oct 1st. Adding To Have and To Hoax to my TBR list – that sounds delightful!!
