Weekly Reading Round-Up
I’ve finally begun reading through some of the books that have been on my TBR forever.
First it was Sujata Massey’s The Widows of Malabar Hill, a mystery set in 1920s Bombay.
Now I’m reading Zen Cho’s Sorcerer to the Crown, which my college roommate sent me in a care package lo these many moons ago. You’d think by now I’d have the good sense to read whatever she sends me when she sends it…. Think Sorcery & Cecelia
or Mairelon the Magician
or Georgette Heyer with magic. I’m enjoying it immensely.
I also had the fun of listening to Lea Geller speak about her debut novel, Trophy Life, last night, so that’s up next in the queue once I’ve left the Regency.

I picked up Act Like It by Lucy Parker (found it on recommendation from this site, thanks!) and very much enjoyed! Any book that can reference Harry Potter, Doctor Who and Lark Rise to Candleford in the first 35 pages is a keeper 🙂
Now am reading Pretty Face, by same author, and so far enjoying this one even more!
Lauren, the sequel, The True Queen, just came out and is equally good! (I just re-read Sorcerer again before diving in). Now I’m on book two of The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman, this one is more like Taboo, dark magic and demons in Brighton! Can’t wait to spend the weekend reading.
I’m reading Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows. Characters are deeply mysterious, so you can only find out about them piece by piece…but they are richly detailed and draw you in.
I’m halfway through “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?” and looking forward to picking up my library hold after that – somehow got in early on the hold list for Lost Roses (the follow-up to Lilac Girls)!
